Providence Reformed Church of Winnipeg

Providence Reformed Church of Winnipeg We gather for worship twice every Sunday: At 9:30 AM and at 4:00 PM. We are a Christian church, linked in history and doctrine to the Protestant Reformation.

Our church building is just north of Winnipeg. As we meet to worship, God meets with us as His covenant people, speaking to us in Word and Sacrament. We respond with prayer, song and confession with faith, joy and repentance. In all aspects of the worship service, from the Call to Worship through the Benediction, we are intimately involved in dialog with our majestic God! Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3)

Pastors: Join MPs Raquel Dancho and Andrew Lawton for a Pastors' Roundtable on Bill C-9 at Providence Reformed Church, 2615 Henderson Hwy East St. Paul, on 2:30 PM, Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Everyone in Canada needs to know about Bill C-9, especially the Christian Church. Bill C-9 is seeking to change the Criminal Code related to hate crimes and hate speech.

Basically this bill removes an already existing safeguard in the Criminal Code (section 319(3)(b)), the "good faith" exemption for religious expression through sacred texts, and, thus, threatens to criminalize pastors for quoting the Bible and anyone else who holds to Bible-based, Christian convictions. It has dangerous consequences for freedom of religion.

Presently the House of Commons is going through a set of motions to limit debate and rapidly pass the bill. The bill then can be sent to the Senate to become law.

We need to pray that the hearts of all MPs would see the danger of removing these safeguards to the Criminal Code.
We need to pray that God would deliver us from evil.
We need to pray that churches would be unashamed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We need to pray that our country will continue to protect freedom of conscience, speech, and religion, according to our Charter of Rights.
No law or rule of government can separate us from the love of Christ.
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37-39)
Whatever happens, our God is ruling. His Word also cannot be shackled (2 Timothy 2:9).

What will 2026 be like? We can never be certain about what the future will bring. This doesn’t mean that we need to be alarmed or fearful. God is good. We're under God’s almighty hand in the year ahead (1 Peter 5:6-9).
