I woke this morning from a restless night’s sleep, with a heavy heart and my spirit deeply stirred. I’ve spent the morning interacting with people at work and there’s a sombre feeling in the air. Can you feel it?
The assassination of Charlie Kirk yesterday, and the 24th anniversary of 9/11 today should be cause for pause, a time when humanity lays down their differences to reflect on the brevity of life and pray for the friends and family that are directly impacted.
On days like this, there should be no left or right, red or blue, liberal or conservative. Sadly, the news and social media are reporting the opposite in many places around America, showing just how divided we are as a result of sin.
This is not about politics, this is spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that “We wrestle not against flesh and blood… but against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.“ the proper response for the church in times like this is found in the following verses, - “put on the whole armour of God.”
We also see in 2 Chronicles 7:14 our response in times like this, along with the assurance of God‘s promise. “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Tonight, I’m inviting you to prayer.
I know it’s last minute, and it’s the middle of a busy week but if at all possible, we’d love to have you join us in prayer tonight 7-8pm at our church 1190 Stevens Rd, West Kelowna.
Together, we will pray for.
- A family that’s hurting.
- The nation that’s broken.
- Against spiritual wickedness.
- For truth to come to light.
- For a covering of protection over our families.
Will you join us?
