Our first home! After meeting for about 20 years at 7 Central Street, in 1871 our congregation moved to the other end of Dorset St to 22 Bridgeport Rd W ( known as Cedar St until the 1950s). In 1905 we opened our current building on the same site and we have been here ever since!

Sunday Services are at 10:00am every Sunday.

What was there @ 7 Central St., Waterloo.

The Burkhardt House, is believed to have been the first Evangelical church of its kind erected in the city of Waterloo. It was constructed in 1849 by Samuel Burkholder a local contractor. Not until the walls were completed did he according to legend let it be known that it was to a church. It he proposed to the local Evangelical congregation that, if they would complete the building, he would grant them free use of it. Central Street was know previously as Church St., most likely because of the building.

Backpacks are packed, lunches are being planned, and a new school year is almost here! 🎒 ✏️

As students, teachers, school staff, and families prepare for Tuesday, we're sending a little extra love and encouragement your way.

May students walk into their classrooms feeling confident, curious, and supported. May teachers and school staff have patience, energy, and joy as they welcome everyone back. May parents and caregivers find a little peace during all the excitement (and maybe enjoy that first quiet cup of coffee!). ☕ 😊

Loving God,
parent and companion to us all,
hold the precious children and young people in your loving care
as they begin a new school year.

Nurture in them a sense of wonder.
Keep their curiosity alive,
their imaginations wide,
and their hearts open to the joy of discovering something new.

May the spark of creativity, possibility, and adventure
continue to burn brightly within them.
Give them courage to ask questions,
freedom to dream,
and confidence to become who they are meant to be.

Surround them with people who see their worth
and meet them with kindness, patience, and respect.
Protect them from harm,
from cruelty and fear,
and from words and ideas that diminish the dignity of others.

And may they be a source of kindness, courage, and welcome to those around them.

Bless them as they learn and grow,
as they make friends, face challenges,
discover their gifts, and find their own light.

May they shine in the ways that are uniquely theirs—
and may every child be surrounded by the love, care,
and hope they need to flourish.

Needle Craft Friends are back this September!

After a summer break, Emmanuel's Needle Craft Friends will meet again beginning Tuesday, September 8 from 2–4 p.m.

This friendly group creates handmade items that are shared with people in our church community, throughout our city and even overseas as part of Emmanuel's Outreach Programming. 💙

Experienced with needle crafts? Wonderful! Want to learn something new? You're welcome too. Some members join us every Tuesday, while others prefer to work on projects from home.

We have our own craft room and supplies, so come by, meet some new friends and see what we're working on!
