Today is Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting and abstinence.
It marks the beginning of 40 days /night of Lent
During the mass today, ashes will be blessed and placed on our heads as a symbolic call to repentance, and humility.
Our Mass today is @ 7 pm.

The Lenten season is beginning next week with Ash Wednesday, February 18th!

During Lent there are two days in which we are required to practice both fasting and abstinence – Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. We are also called to practice abstinence from meat every Friday of Lent.

So what are the Church’s specifications of fasting? We are invited to limit ourselves throughout the day to one ordinary meal, and 2 much smaller meals (that together do not equate a full meal). The law of fasting binds those who are 18 to 59 years of age. The law of abstinence from meat binds those who are 14 years of age and older, although the eating of fish is allowed.

We pray you have a most spiritually fruitful Lenten season, through acts of penitence, prayer and almsgiving.
