Neil's sermon, Staying Close to Jesus, centers around the John 15 use of the word "abide". Abide means to remain, stay, dwell, or continue in a close, unbroken relationship with God. It is about living daily in faith, continually trusting in Him, and resting in His love rather than relying on your own effort.

The "Foreign Woman", in Tom's sermon, is described as a Canaanite, a group historically seen as enemies of Israel. The woman, whose daughter was possessed by an impure spirit, pleaded with Jesus to heal her child. After some banter, Jesus, impressed by her response, declares that the demon has left her daughter. She returned home to find her child healed.

Neil's sermon, Staying Connected, Bringing Joy, points out how abiding in Christ is central to the message of John 15. Jesus identifies himself as the "true vine" and his followers as the "branches". It speaks of a constant, unwavering connection to Jesus. A connection that brings true joy!

Tom's sermon, "Jesus & the Woman of Stealthy Faith", highlights a desperate woman, who despite strict religious laws, quietly approaches Jesus to receive healing. The woman had suffered from a consistent flow of blood for 12 years, had spent all her money on doctors, but her condition had gotten worse. She touches Jesus' cloak & her bleeding stopped instantly. Her story is an example of persistent faith that overcomes obstacles and fear.

Tom's message, Jesus and the Samaritan Woman, recorded in John 4:1–42, shows how Jesus broke several cultural and religious barriers of the first century, as Jesus—a Jewish man and teacher—engages an unnamed Samaritan woman who was likely a social outcast. He reveals himself as the Messiah, offers "living water" (eternal life/Holy Spirit), and teaches that true worship is in spirit and truth, not limited to one place.

In this sermon titled, I am the Resurrection, Neil shares about the raising of Lazarus, which is a major miracle in the Gospel of John, where Jesus brings his friend back to life in Bethany after he had been dead for four days. This climactic miracle was performed by Jesus shortly before his own crucifixion.

Tom's Easter Sunday sermon, highlighted Isaiah 53, which is a foundational passage in the Bible that describes a "Suffering Servant" who endures profound hardship and rejection for the benefit of others. The Servant is "pierced for our transgressions" and "crushed for our iniquities". Could there be a clearer explanation of what Jesus went through for us?

In Luke 7:36–44, the story is told of a Pharisee named Simon inviting Jesus to his home for dinner. Jesus accepts and reclines at the table. A "sinful woman", enters the house and anoints Jesus' feet with perfume and tears. Tom's sermon, titled "An Uninvited Guest", contrasts her extravagant act of love and repentance with Simon's critical and judgmental attitude.

In Neil's sermon, Light that Delivers, he highlighted John 8:12, where Jesus speaks these words; "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Scholars believe Jesus spoke these words in the Temple’s Treasury during the Feast of Tabernacles. This festival featured the lighting of massive golden lamps, symbolizing the pillar of fire that guided the Israelites in the wilderness. The "light" symbolizes truth, holiness, and God's presence, while "darkness" represents sin, ignorance, and spiritual death. Jesus presents himself as the exclusive source of spiritual clarity and eternal life.

The miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 is a cornerstone biblical event where Jesus multiplied five barley loaves and two small fish to feed a massive crowd. Jesus follows this miracle by declaring himself the "Bread of Life," shifting the focus from physical hunger to spiritual eternal life. In our Sunday sermon, Food that Endures, Neil helped us see how Jesus was the source of Eternal Life!

In John 9, Jesus heals a man born blind, demonstrating his role as the "Light of the World" and proving His divinity. It contrasts spiritual sight with pharisaical blindness, emphasizing that suffering is not always linked to personal sin but can be an opportunity for God’s works to be displayed. In Sunday's sermon, Tom gave the opportunity for us to role play this miracle & experience, not only what this man experienced, but what others who were connected to him in some way experienced.
