This week in Kids Ministry, we explored the story of Noah and the Flood (Genesis 6:5–8:5) and talked about God's gift of second chances. We learned how God cared not only for people, but for all of Creation, and how the flood story reminds us of the importance of living in harmony with one another and caring for the world God has entrusted to us. 🌎💙

As part of our lesson, the kids worked together to build balancing structures out of blocks. Through the activity, we discovered that just as blocks need to lean on one another to stay balanced, people need to support one another to live in harmony. Sometimes our structures fell down, but that became an important lesson too—starting over gives us the opportunity to learn, grow, and try again.

We're excited to spend this month exploring how we can be good stewards of God's Creation and put our faith into action. 🌱

Bible Study will run from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, June 1st. We’ll continue with readings from the Lectionary : 1 Samuel 2:1-10; Romans 4:13-25 ; Matthew 9:9-13. We will meet in the Lounge (upstairs and to to the right). All are welcome to join in!

Apologies - the wrong time for Bible Study was in the announcements this Sunday. It is tonight (Monday) at 7:30 to 9 p.m. here at the church, in the Lounge, at 935 Goldstream Avenue. Anyone is welcome to attend. The readings we'll be looking at are Genesis 1-2:4a; Psalm 8; 2 Corinthians 13:11-13; Matthew 28:16-20. We'll try this time for now and see if it works! (Should there be anyone interested in Bible Study who cannot be physically present, we'll figure out a way to get you connected virtually!).

Silent Auction coming up for the "Raise the Roof" fund! We have everything from farm fresh eggs to gift cards to hand-made afghans and custom art work, a mini-concert and rounds of golf! The Auction opens at 11:30 a.m. (right after worship) in the church Hall at 935 Goldstream Avenue May 31st, with first table closing at 11:50 and the last table closing at 12:20 so you'll want to be on time and get your bids in early!

A message for Gordon United:

Hello to the folx of Gordon United Church!
I wanted to send a prayer to your community of faith as part of the regional prayer cycle. I see prayer as one way that I can give to, show gratitude for, and serve the congregations in the regions that I support. You are on the regional list to pray for this week, and I wanted to let you know that I am lifting your community up in prayer. I pray that this prayer, and the others extended to your church this week, fill the people of your community of faith and remind you all that God shares grace with us each and every day.

Gracious God, loving provider, ever present comforter, and the one who calls each of us beloved, please lift up the community of Gordon United Church so that they may continue to share the Good News within their community of faith, within their neighbourhoods, and within all of the places and spaces they go. I pray that this community of faith is inspired by the Holy Spirit to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and love for You. Help each of the members of Gordon United deepen their faith and live a life that reflects Your truth. May we all be filled with Your Spirit and bear fruit that blesses others and honors you. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

This week in Kids Ministry, we continued our Asian Heritage Month series while exploring Isaiah 9:6–7 and learning about Islam. The kids discussed similarities and differences between Jesus and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), learning about how both shared messages of faith, hope, and living with integrity.

We also explored traditional Islamic art and created colourful mosaics inspired by the beautiful patterns used to decorate sacred spaces. 🎨✨

It’s been amazing to watch the kids ask thoughtful questions, learn about the world around them, and grow in kindness, curiosity, and faith each week. 💛
