Dear friends and neighbours - local neighbours, global neighbours. Folks are struggling right now: with debt, with expenses, with just surviving, with trauma, with climate anxiety, with political realities. Friends, please don't let it all turn us away from one another. More than ever, we need to reach out and find ways to share our communities and our planet in healthy and equitable ways. That includes non-human neighbours. Where would we go to for solace with no trees, no water, no green and growing things? No butterflies or birdsong or flowers? Not to mention, no natural food? No neighbour smiling hello, no chats over the fence. No visits to beautiful countries to learn their unique ways, no welcoming newcomers and exchanging foods and language and customs. We can't let anyone take our relationship with one another away and replace it with fear and anger. History has times like this - and we will come out on the other side, if we don't forget we're all in this together. Love God (as you conceive the divine and holy); love your neighbour as yourself.
