IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING OUR PARISH BULLETINS

We would like to clarify some misinformation regarding the availability of our parish bulletin and bring an ongoing concern to the attention of our parish community.

Printed parish bulletins have not been discontinued. Unfortunately, copies placed in the church have repeatedly been removed, and on two separate occasions missing batches were later found discarded in the garbage.

Please take a moment to read the notice below.

If you have any information that may help us understand what is happening, please contact the Parish Office directly. We also ask you to keep the person responsible in your prayers, that this situation may be resolved with honesty, understanding and peace.

Thank you for helping us care for one another and ensure that parish information remains accessible to everyone.

Queen of Peace, pray for us.

Today, October 2, the Church celebrates the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels.

The belief in guardian angels reaches back through Scripture and the early Church — that God’s care for us includes the unseen ministry of angels who guide, protect and pray with us throughout our lives.

The feast itself developed much later, becoming part of the Church’s general calendar in the seventeenth century. Over time, guardian angels also became deeply rooted in Catholic prayer, art and popular devotion.

“For he commands his angels with regard to you, to guard you wherever you go.”
— Psalm 91:11

The Holy Guardian Angels →

The Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels honours the angels whom the Church teaches are appointed by God to watch over and guide us throughout our lives. The devotion reflects the Christian belief that God’s care is not only distant or abstract, but may also be expressed through the unseen ministr...

Today, October 1, the Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Thérèse of Lisieux — the “Little Flower.”

Thérèse entered the Carmel of Lisieux at only fifteen and spent almost her entire adult life behind convent walls. Her spirituality became known as the Little Way — finding holiness not through great achievements, but through ordinary acts offered with love and trust in God.

Yet her influence travelled remarkably far. Her writings reached readers around the world, pilgrims filled Lisieux, and she was later named Doctor of the Church and patroness of the missions alongside St. Francis Xavier. In 2001, a travelling reliquary containing her relics even reached Vancouver.

Happy Michaelmas!

Today, September 29, the Church celebrates the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael — the three archangels named in Sacred Scripture. St. Michael is remembered as a defender against evil, St. Gabriel as the messenger of God’s saving plan, and St. Raphael as a guide and healer.

For centuries, this day was especially associated with St. Michael and was widely known as Michaelmas. Over time it became connected with old seasonal customs, including Michaelmas fairs, the traditional Michaelmas goose and, in parts of Scotland, the baking of St. Michael’s Cake.

Learn more about the archangels, the history of Michaelmas and the old tradition of St. Michael’s Cake on our Feast Days page:

Today, September 26, the Catholic Church in Canada celebrates the Feast of the Canadian Martyrs.

One hundred years ago, some 10,000 people gathered near Midland, Ontario, for the opening of a shrine dedicated to eight missionaries and companions who had died nearly three centuries earlier. Four years later, they were canonized in Rome.

Their story is one of extraordinary determination — including men who continued their mission despite knowing the dangers they faced, and in one remarkable case, returned after captivity and torture.

Why did their story endure for nearly four centuries — and why are the Canadian Martyrs still remembered today?

One hundred years ago, on June 26, 1926, some 10,000 people gathered near Midland, Ontario, for the first Mass at a new shrine dedicated to eight men who had died almost three centuries earlier. They arrived by train, automobile and horse and buggy. The eight Canadian Martyrs had been beatified only...
