For their final Wednesday Evensong of term today, the Young Choristers will be singing Godfrey Hewitt's Preces and Responses, recently published by the Godfrey Hewitt Project, Ottawa. Hewitt was Organist and Choirmaster at Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa from 1931 to 1980, a remarkable half-century!

Introducing the Youth Choir! Since September, a small group of high school students has been meeting weekly and singing alongside the Cathedral Choir and the Young Choristers. This Wednesday, these talented young singers will sing Evensong for the first time on their own! Come and experience the beauty and calm of Choral Evensong this Wednesday, June 4, at 5.00 pm in the Chapel of the New Jerusalem sung by the Cathedral's newest choir!

Former CCC Young Chorister wins organ scholarship!

Felix Liu, a former CCC young chorister and Christ Church Cathedral School student, recently moved to Kelowna with his family. But that move didn’t stop him from bringing a piece of his Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria, BC experience and education with him. Felix was recently awarded a national beginner organ scholarship from the The Royal Canadian College of Organists, and is taking up organ study with Sandra Fletcher in Kelowna. Felix writes:

"My name is Felix and I am 13 years old in British Columbia. I was in the Christ Church Cathedral chorister program in Victoria for four years. Of all the services that we sang in, we almost always sang with the organ.

"The organist at Christ Church Cathedral, Mark McDonald, would take some of the choristers up to the organ loft to play the organ for fun. It was there that I was suddenly interested in the organ. The organ has so many different sounds! That’s why I wanted to play the organ. The other instruments that I also play are the alto saxophone and the piano."
