https://youtube.com/live/-TIM9QUt1zo?feature=share Join us for my last mass at Saint Patrick's and Holy Cross on Saturday, June 8 at 4pm at Saint Patrick's. This will also be my last streaming until we built a new church on the west shore in about two years. In a month when school-age children look forward to closing their books for some well-needed summer fun, I have packed up two offices and am about to begin anew on the westshore. A thread running through today’s readings is about the threat of evil in human existence. I promise if you expose yourself to the news today, you’ll learn the same thing Genesis warns about. There’s trouble in Paradise. Things aren’t as they should be, and someone (or lots of someones) will pay a bitter price for this. Media assures us daily we’re one step from apocalypse. Take a hint from the Bible: Every generation is apocalyptic. Humanity is always poised on the brink of disaster. I’m not denying it; I’m saying it’s nothing new. So relax. You’ve lived in apocalypse your whole life and are no worse for the wear. Jesus is poised on the brink, with accusations all around. His family thinks he’s crazy. Enemies call him possessed. Jesus roots himself down in the fabulous unseen: his Father’s love, abundant life, a new family composed of spirit and truth. We can trust the trouble, or trust the Lord. Because God is always calling. We can hide—or come forth. Holy Cross and Saint Patrick's and livestream family thank you for allowing me to be your shepherd! In a polarized world of disunity choose unity in Christ! Making loving acts of kindness “normal” is the dangerous game Christ calls us all to play.Aesop proclaimed... united we stand, divided we fall

https://youtube.com/live/oXIyd6xsExc?feature=share join us at Hoy Cross on Saturday, June 1st at 4pm for Corpus Christi. The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ has a long history—as a devotion when few actually received Communion and as the subject of festive processions. Today we look to it as a celebration of the centrality of the Eucharist in our lives as Christians and Catholics. As written in the Second Vatican Council’s Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, “The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the church is directed; it is also the fount from which all her power flows.” How does what we do flow from liturgy? How can we avoid making liturgy merely another thing I do? As we partake in the celebration of the Eucharist, let us be mindful that it is far from a passive event. It is a sacred gesture in which we are called to participate. The true meaning of communion refers not only to our own personal relationship with Christ, but it also should refer to our relationship with our fellow Christians. In a nutshell, reverence for Christ is reverence for every human being!

https://youtube.com/live/0c-95aBKtuw?feature=share Join us on Sunday, May 26th at 11am at Saint Patrick's for the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity! Tanya Taft writes.... the readings express both the extraordinary magnificence of God and the deep love that God has for each of us. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus declares his profound regard for humanity with the most wonderful promise. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. The faithfulness of God knows no bounds. Jesus gives his word that he will never abandon us. He will always be at our side, always within our hearts. How amazing is our God! God created us, loves us, and accompanies us as we live. We are chosen, not because we are Roman Catholics, not because we are Christians, not because we are civilized and literate. No, we are chosen because God loves us. He chooses all, not a few, not many, but every human being, without exception. God chooses you! So, what does it mean to us, the Holy Trinity? We might not completely understand the mystery of the Trinity, three persons and one God. But we do know that we need God in all three persons! With God in three persons within our hearts, we are called to bring peace and love to our beautiful world, trusting Jesus’ wonderful words! And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R07u5Rg9Q2c join us for the Feast of Pentecost on Saturday, May 18 at 4pm at Holy Cross! Catch the spirit! Celebrate the spirit! We’ve got spirit! The risen Jesus comes and stands among them and says to them: ‘Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so am I sending you … He also breathes upon them the Holy Spirit, ‘the Lord and giver of life’. When they breathe in the Spirit, they breathe in the Spirit’s gifts of courage, confidence, and conviction. The Spirit empowers them to give fresh meaning to the past and to look to the future with fresh hope. So, they walk out bravely into the streets outside the Upper Room and filled with the Holy Spirit of wisdom, understanding, courage, confidence and love, the preachers begin telling all the good news about Jesus. Wonder of wonders, every person there hears in their own language the marvelous things that God has been doing in the person and life of Jesus! The Holy Spirit is like the rising sap that fills the tree with life. It is through and with our better instincts that the Spirit works and brings our lives to fulfilment through the loving service of others. Are you alive in the Spirit? If we truly believe that we have received this same Spirit as did the disciples on that first Pentecost, what keeps us from going out to proclaim boldly the good news of salvation? In what way are we called to be transformed women and men? Hans Urs von Balthasar said: What you are is God’s gift to you, what you become is your gift to God. Awaken to your gifts today and go forth and serve!

https://youtube.com/live/90BiiOkNEx8?feature=share Join us on Sunday, May 12 at 4pm at Saint Patrick's for the Ascension of the Lord. The ascended Christ, far from being absent, fills the whole cosmos in a new way writes Sister Brid Long. It would be a horrible misunderstanding to think that the Ascension is an event in which Jesus makes it safely home, a happy conclusion about which you need trouble yourself no further. It would indeed be a serious mistake if we thought of Jesus ascending into heaven as leaving our world and exchanging this world for a safer and holier place: heaven. When we say Jesus ascended into heaven, we are saying that it has happened to one of our own kind. In Jesus, our own vocation and dignity have been accomplished. His mission can only be accomplished now in and through us. That is the reason resurrection stories and ascension stories turn into mission stories. We as his disciples are sent forth. Even if peace, love, justice, freedom, forgiveness of all seems humanly unattainable they are within our reach when we let ourselves be guided by the Spirit of the Risen Jesus. The next wave of this arc involves you and your being “sent” to continue the story for the age to come. Saint Augustine wrote…for although He ascended alone, we also ascend, because we are in Him by grace. His ascension is our glory and our hope!
