Hanamatsuri, or the "Flower Festival," is a Japanese Buddhist holiday celebrated to commemorate the birth of Sakyamuni Buddha. The festival features a small, flower-decorated altar holding a statue of the baby Buddha, over which worshippers pour ama-cha (sweet tea) to symbolize the rain that fell at his birth.

Please join us for our Monthly Meditation Session and Hanamatsuri Service on Saturday April 25, 2026. The Meditation and service will be lead by Sensei Hirano.
Meditation is from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.
The Service is from 4:00 to 5:30pm.

Lama Rabten Tshering will give Buddhist Teachings in English. He is the Resident Teacher and Spiritual Director of Nalanda Bodhi Canada. He follows the Karma Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism.

Nirvana Day is when the historical Buddha, Shakyamuni entered into the Final Nirvana when he passed from his human life. It is a Service to reflect on Impermanence and the Buddhist goal of Nirvana (the ending of suffering of the endless cycle of birth and death)
We will also be observing Monthly Memorials/Shotsuki in gratitude and memory.
