MLC-Vancouver Celebrates Victoria Day at Barnet Marine Park đź’ź
Victoria Day is the only federal holiday in Canada that is held in honour of a person. We as a church recognize how anyone can make a lasting impact that will go down through generations even beyond his/her lifetime.
Did you know that Queen Victoria was not even in the direct line of succession to become Queen? There were many others ahead of her that were more likely to be monarch and yet circumstances aligned and made a way for her to inherit the throne. Do you sometimes feel inadequate and that someone else is more qualified than you? Remember that if you are faithful, available and teachable you are in position to receive God’s favour!
Did you know that Queen Victoria wore a white dress on her wedding day, thereby setting this bridal tradition? Before this, women would just wear their best brightly coloured dress on their wedding day! Today, it is almost scandalous if the wedding dress is any other colour but white! She’s not just a trendsetter but a tradition setter! In the same way, one simple act of love can go a long, long way when we do it for God’s glory!
Queen Victoria is considered a historical giant and yet she stood only at 4’11 ft! You don’t have to be tall to stand tall! You don’t have to be perfect, just made perfect (Hebrews 10:14)! Give God the glory by living a life that is uncompromising, courageous and one day face our Maker and earn His approval.
Happy Victoria Day again to us and may we all glean lifelong lessons from the victorious lives of those who have gone before us. ❤️‍🔥
