Within about 2-3 weeks I plan to have Anchor Academy registered with Transport Canada as a recreational boating school (dinghy & keelboat).

This will enable me to build middle school and secondary school academic courses which provide various sailing (dinghy, keelboat, marine-first-aid, VHF, etc) certifications with partnering yacht clubs or as a capable academic school of 30+ years.

Please stay tuned as I will sponsor and host (location TBA) a STEM Education Night (or Daytime) program in Vancouver and the Okanagan in the on the Sept 9/10, or 16/17 weekend. PM me for further information, or message me in you have a child who would be interested in participating (some fees apply).

As the first, and likely only REACH Sailing instructor in Canada, it would be great to get our kids and students appreciating the science behind sailing through this program in the Okanagan.

Any members of Vernon YC, Kelowna YC, Summerland YC, Penticton YC & Marina, NOSA, COSA, SOSA interested in partnering on this September 2017 event?

To begin I have many people and places to thank...

My parents, Mary Martinen and Henry Martinen - your support and love has always been there

My Brother, William Martinen - you have helped me much, and taught me much. You run an excellent bicycle business (West Side Cycle, in Toronto, ON).

Pre-1980
Thank you Camp Mini Yo We - I loved my time there in my youth.

Post-1980
Queensway Christian School and Oakville Christian School - who knew I would become a teacher. Thank you for your discipline and great education.

Oakville Trafalgar High School - I loved being a part of this magnificent school at the old location beside the hospital. Mr. Sora, your phys-ed classes were the bomb. Ms. Wong, you are an incredible swim team coach. Mr. Trotter - who knew I'd become a geography teacher, with the desire to take students as you took me, to Austria, twice, for skiing. My track & field coach, I can't recall your name, but your countless hours at the track, sometimes with me alone, helped me get to the OFSAA finals for 400m hurdles (57 seconds).

Kikkawa College - I loved your RMT program. I graduated and enjoyed a great practice between 2003-2010 full-time, and part-time thereafter.

Post-2000
