N'shei Chabad British Columbia

N'shei Chabad British Columbia N'shei Chabad Vancouver is part of a global N'shei Chabad organization, started at a directive of the Lubavicher Rebbe.

The vibrant, successful, worldwide organization, now known as N’shei U’bnos Chabad (women & daughters of Chabad), was born of humble origins. The Ladies Auxiliary began as an organization that raised money for the yeshiva in Brownsville, NY, as well as for other charitable causes. N’shei U’bnos Chabad was established in 1953 at the suggestion of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneer

son, as an organization that would inspire its members to bring more spirituality into their homes and to bring other women closer to Judaism and Chassidut. Upon the organization of N’shei U’bnos Chabad, a leadership committee was established, and the Rebbe charged these women with organizing conventions that could be attended by women from around the world. The first convention took place in 1956 in Manhattan with delegations coming from all over the world. In the early years of the N’shei Chabad Convention, Rabbi Joseph Wineberg OBM, asked the Rebbe if he would address the women and offer the participants the opportunity to receive a blessing from the Rebbe. The Rebbe granted Rabbi Wineberg’s request, and the Rebbe’s sicha (talk) to the women and line for dollars became the highlight of the N’shei Chabad Convention. The Rebbe wanted a Jewish women’s magazine to be created, and of course, he charged N’shei Chabad with the honor of designing the publication. It was originally called “Di Yiddishe Heim” (the Jewish Home) and it is now called the “N’shei Chabad Newsletter” and is published five times per year. As shluchim of the Rebbe spread the wellsprings of Chassidut further across the globe, N’shei Chabad expanded as well. Shluchot established N’shei Chabad chapters for women in their local communities. N’shei Chabad currently holds two annual conventions to meet the needs of the ever-growing membership of women from across the world. In addition to the springtime convention in NY, a mid-winter convention is held in a different North American city each year, hosted by the local N’shei Chabad chapter.

Usually at the Chabad Rabbi's International convention, they take ONE "group photo." This year, there were THREE.
Picture #1: 4,000+ Chabad shluchim (Rabbi's) gather in front of 770- Chabad World Headquarters in Brooklyn on Sunday.
Simultaneously, for the first time ever, there was a convention for the Chabad Rabbis in Israel- who usually attend the conference in New York...and the the two banquets on Sunday-one in Brooklyn and one in Israel were streamed live together.
Which leads to
Picture #2: The Chabad Shluchim in Israel who are currently serving in the reserves of the IDF and were able to get off a few hours to attend the banquet in Israel. They deserve their own photo.

Picture #3 1,000+ Chabad Shluchim who did not want to leave their posts in the Holy Land this year, because they are helping their communities through this difficult time.

Hence two simultaneous conventions....with ONE GOAL. To spread the light and love of Torah and Judaism throughout every corner of the globe. Making sure that no matter where in the world a Jew is- they always have a place to call "home."

May all the powerful prayers that were said this weekend be answered! May Hashem protect our soldiers in the IDF, our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land and bring our hostages home!!
And may we all be reunited in our Holy Land with the coming of Moshiach immediately.

P.S. Can you spot Rabbi Dovid in picture #1?
