All Souls Evensong with music by Maurice Duruflé, this Sunday afternoon!

This Sunday, Novembe 2, St. John's Shaughnessy offers a service of Choral Evensong at 4pm.

This All Souls' Day, the St. John's choir invites you to travel with them from the earliest days of church music through to the present, remembering fallen souls through history while looking forward to God's eternity, wrestling with the incredible dichotomy between life and death as we try to make sense of it all in this complicated world.

Twas an exciting day at SJS - not only was it guest organist Seeun Oh’s first practice/prep session (for which she was most impressed and inspired by our Hallman organ and acoustic); but also our SJS100 Canterbury glass Centenary windows were installed!!

Perhaps rather fitting that the first sound waves the new glasswork will resonate with are from pipes mostly made in the Netherlands (Stinkens) with exquisite music from Germany and France under the graceful fingers of South Korea…
