🌳 Get your hands in the soil and give back to Stanley Park!

Tree Canada’s National Tree Day Stewardship Event is coming to Vancouver and it’s a wonderful opportunity to make a real, tangible difference for our local ecosystem. 🌿

Volunteers will help restore Stanley Park’s forests by removing invasive plant species like English ivy — the second greatest threat to biodiversity after habitat loss. By removing these species, we help native plants regenerate and prepare the land for future restoration. Every pair of hands makes a difference! 🌎❤️

This is a free event open to all — no experience necessary. Come learn about Stanley Park’s unique ecosystem, connect with fellow nature lovers, and leave knowing you made a meaningful contribution to the land we all love.

✨ This Saturday, we sit together at the threshold of the Jewish New Year.

Join Living Interfaith Sanctuary online as Tanya Mordkovich guides us through the significance, traditions, and deep spiritual meaning of the High Holy Days — Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. 💛

These two sacred days mark the end of the Jewish yearly cycle. The ten days between them are a time of deep reflection and atonement — a holy pause between celebration and stillness. From the symbolic foods of Rosh Hashanah to the solemn fast of Yom Kippur, Tanya will walk us through the traditions that Jewish communities around the world hold dear.

Tanya grew up in Israel with deep roots in Jewish tradition and the Hebrew language. A Jewish educator and community professional with Hillel Ontario and Hillel BC, she currently leads Shabbat dinners and Jewish holiday gatherings, and is on her own beautiful journey of exploring Jewish spirituality. 🕯️

Wherever you come from and whatever your faith — this is a morning of learning, connection, and deep respect for a beautiful tradition. All are welcome. 🙏

📚 A book club for those ready to do the deeper work.

Colonialism is woven into the experiences, worldviews, and decisions of Canadian settlers — often in ways we don’t even recognize. How do we begin to see it, question it, and uproot it? How do we stop perpetuating colonial harms upon each other and the Earth?

One powerful way is through education and shared reflection as a community. That’s why we are launching the 🌟 Settler Accountability Book Club 🌟

Together, we will be reading “Settler: Identity and Colonialism” (2nd Ed.) by Emma Battell Lowman & Adam J. Barker — recommended for decolonizing work by Harley Eagle, an Indigenous Cultural Safety & Humility Specialist.

Our first meeting to discuss Chapter 1 takes place on:

Together we will explore ancient Celtic wisdom, deepen our intuition, and reflect on what it means to welcome the shadows while calling in the light — through readings, meditation, and journaling. 🕯️

Don’t forget — step outside on Thursday, August 27th at 9:12 pm to witness the eclipse, leave a special stone overnight in the Moon’s glow, and bring it with you to the gathering! 🪨

🌕 Something magical is happening on August 29th.

The August full moon is no ordinary moon. Known to First Nations as the Sturgeon Moon, Corn Moon, and Mountain Shadows Moon, this year it arrives with a partial lunar eclipse that will darken more than 96% of the Moon’s surface — before brightening to its fullness. ✨

Join us for “Calling in the Light: Connecting with the Power of the Full Moon” — a beautiful and reflective morning gathering at the Fireside Room at the Centre for Peace. Through readings, meditation, and journaling, we will explore ancient Celtic views of this moon cycle, deepen our intuition, and reflect on what it means to welcome the shadows while calling in the light. 🕯️

Participants are encouraged to view the partial lunar eclipse on Thursday, August 27th at 9:12 pm, leave a special stone outside overnight to bask in the Moon’s glow, and bring it along to the gathering. 🪨

Together we will gather in an interfaith spirit of reflection, learning, and community as we honour Mawlid al-Nabi, the celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

This service is an opportunity to explore the values of compassion, mercy, generosity, and peace that are central to the Prophet’s life and continue to inspire people around the world today.
