Rino Bellini
January 27, 1941 - July 22, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rino Bellini on July 22, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by family.

Rino is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Linda Bellini, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He leaves behind his five children: Angela, Lisa (Danny), Barbara (Jeff), Robert (Jessica), and Paul (Nadia). He was a proud and loving Nonno to his eleven cherished grandchildren: James, Jackson, Amelia, Stella, Chiara, Ashley, Lucas, Anika, Spiro, Dominic, and Aidan. Whether cheering them on, sharing stories, offering advice, or simply spending time together, every moment with them was precious.

Rino was predeceased by his beloved brother, Ugo Bellini, and is fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Florence Bellini and his nephews, Luigi and Marc.

Born on January 27, 1941, in the small farming town of Taglio di Po, Italy, Rino grew up around the end of the Second World War. Those early experiences instilled in him core values that would guide him throughout his life—hard work, resilience, humility, and the importance of family.

In 1959, with hope for a brighter future, Rino immigrated to Canada, arriving with little more than determination and a dream of building a better life. He first settled in Winnipeg, where he worked in woodworking and millwork, quickly earning the respect of his employers through his skill, reliability, and incomparable work ethic. Eventually, he made his way to British Columbia, where he soon established his own successful construction company.

Rino was equally devoted to his Italian heritage and community. As President of the Roma Hall for a decade, he worked tirelessly to bring people together, celebrate Italian traditions, and strengthen the community he loved.

To those who knew him, Rino will always be remembered as a man of unwavering character. He was loyal, honest, generous, and fiercely devoted to the people he loved. He believed in consistently doing things the right way, treating others with respect, and never being afraid of hard work. He also had a special love for animals, whose companionship brought him great joy throughout his life.

Rino's greatest legacy is not the homes he built or the business he created—it is the family he nurtured, the values he passed on, and the example he set. His journey from a small village in Italy to building a beautiful life in Canada is a testament to courage, determination, and the enduring power of family.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

We have another death of the Trevisani membership to announce. Below is the information on the funeral service for Valeria Botter.

Valeria Botter nee Parisotto
Born December 23, 1936 in Asolo, Italy

The family of Valeria Botter is deeply saddened to announce her sudden passing on July 31, 2026 at the age of 89 in Vancouver, B.C.

Valeria was predeceased by her husband Cirillo Botter in 1998 and survived by her children Annalisa (Rick), Eric (Barbara), Grandchildren Kristin (Robert), Mikela (Justin), Jordan (Halli), James, Stephanie (Darin), Sarah (Natalie).

Valeria is also survived by her Great Grandchildren Anthony, Finlay, Brayden, Miles, Jack, and Winter.

Valeria loved hosting dinners that were ultimately feasts all served hot and delicious from her tiny kitchen. She was a consumate gardener producing beautiful tomatoes and radicchio. She will be deeply missed by both family and friends.

Viewing will be August 10, 2025 at Bell and Burnaby Funeral Chapel at 4276 Hastings St, Burnaby BC between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated August 11, 2026 @ 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows at 555 Slocan St. Vancouver BC. Burial to follow for Immediate Family.

Secondo Andreola
December 11, 1935 — May 20, 2026

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and Nonno ,Secondo Andreola. Secondo was born on December 11, 1935 in Bessica di Loria, Treviso, Italy ,and passed away May 20, 2026 in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Secondo is survived by his wife, Evelina; his children, Paul (Patricia), Sandra (Rick), Tina(Dave); his grandchildren, Sara (Callum), Alexander, Nathan, Marisa (Charlie), Nicole, Ashley ,Matteo, and Michael; and one brother in Italy, Giovanni. He is predeceased by his five sisters ,and his twin brother Primo.

Secondo emigrated to Canada in 1956, beginning his career as a longshoreman in 1962, a job he enjoyed greatly until his retirement in 2000.In 1963, he sent for his fiancée to join him in Canada and they married soon after she arrived.

Secondo was a hard worker, who was always ready to lend a hand to those who needed it. He served many years as a dedicated member of the Trevisani Nel Mondo Comitato and volunteered at the Italian Cultural Centre. He was honored with the Immigrant of the Year award in 2011. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards with friends and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He travelled with Evelina, all over the globe, but the warm beaches of Mexico were a favourite destination.

Prayers will be held for Secondo at Kearney Chapel, 4715 Hastings St, Burnaby, BC on Monday June 1 at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish 555Slocan St, Vancouver, BC on June 2 at 11am with entombment to follow at Gardens of Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery, 15694 32nd Ave. Surrey, BC.

Giovanna Maria Artuso
May 4, 1929 — May 11, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Giovanna Maria (Marostica) Artuso on May 11th, 2026 in Surrey at the age of 97. To many of us, she was a treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, aunt or friend. Her passing is felt by many but especially her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who profoundly felt her guidance, love, and wisdom. She was deeply loved and cherished and will be thoroughly missed.

Giovanna was born on May 4th, 1929 in San Zenone Degli Ezzelini in Treviso, Italy. She was born the eldest of eight children and was sent to work in Rome as a housemaid at the age of 12 to help support her family financially. When Giovanna was 16, her mother passed away tragically during childbirth and so Giovanna returned home to take care of her sisters and brother. After one of her sisters, Elsa, fell seriously ill at the age of 9, Giovanna travelled with her to Asolo to work at a medical facility in exchange for her sister to receive the required treatment which ultimately saved her life. It was here that Giovanna trained as a nurse and assisted in surgeries.

Later, after returning to Rome to work, Giovanna met the love of her life, Francesco Secondo Artuso and the two were married on November 12, 1949. After an impromptu opportunity from her grandfather landed them with a free ticket to Argentina, Secondo sold his bike to buy a ticket of his own and the two of them moved to Mendoza, Argentina in pursuit of a better life in 1950. In 1951, their beloved daughter Maria Elisa was born. While life in Argentina was better than it was in post-war Italy and they had extended family there, it wasn’t very prosperous so in 1958, the three of them moved to Vancouver, British Columbia upon the urging of Secondo’s twin brother, Primo. Here the family were finally able to fulfill their dreams of building a meaningful and thriving life together. Soon, Giovanna’s sisters Anna and Mima joined her in Canada.

Many happy years followed with Giovanna finding work sewing hats in a factory in Vancouver and Secondo working as a manhole builder. They had many friends and family living close by as the brothers lived within a block of each other on Pandora Street. Their days were filled with hard work but also lots of family get togethers, picnics and late nights playing cards with friends.

In 1978, Secondo and Giovanna purchased a farm on 200th Street in Langley which at the time was a largely rural area, unlike today. Giovanna often described her years in Langley as the best of her life as she was able to cultivate many vegetable and flower gardens, tend to chickens, cows and rabbits and the many cats (all named Moochie) and dogs (almost all named Trollie) over the years. They often had large family gatherings and dinners with their immediate and large extended family and friends which often involved many hours of playing cards, bocce and bingo. Giovanna was famous for her cooking, making the most mouth-watering homemade ravioli, meatballs, biscotti, brodo, and pasta sauce. Their life here was a simple yet satisfying one surrounded with family and friends with Giovanna in particular enjoying many hours of knitting and putting together large puzzles which Secondo would often have framed and mounted. She once said that she felt great satisfaction with the simple act of seeing fresh laundry hanging on the line at the home.

In 2001, Secondo passed away unexpectedly, a crushing loss she felt for many years. Eventually, Giovanna would move to Burnaby to be closer to her sister, Anna, and in later years to Surrey to live in long-term care and to be closer to her devoted daughter, Maria.

Giovanna was predeceased by her parents, Eugenia and Giovanni, her loving husband, Secondo, her sisters, Lydia, Maria, Teresa, Elsa, Anna, Mima and brother Angelo and her son-in-law Michele, and brothers-in-law Primo, Franco, Gerry, Silvio and Marcel.

She is survived by her daughter, Maria (Giuseppe), her grandchildren, Lisa (Mark), Remo, Brenda (Rodney) and Robert (Laura) and great-grandchildren, Bianca, Manuela, Angelo, Claudia, Markus, Michela, Matteo, Joel and Mila, sisters-in-law Paola and Bianca, brother-in-law Arturo and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, Italy, Switzerland and Argentina.

The family would like to thank the nurses and care attendants at White Rock Seniors Village and Fleetwood Place (Dawnside) for their exceptional work and love caring for Giovanna in her final months and days.

A funeral mass will be held on May 29th at 10:30am at St Matthew’s Roman Catholic Parish located at 16079 88th Avenue in Surrey. Open casket viewing on May 28th from 2:00-3:00pm at Kearney Funeral Home located at 219 6th Street, New Westminster. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any favourite charity of your choosing.

Eternal rest grant unto her, Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

Mrs Marcellina Gallina (Marcella) Obituary
December 29, 1925 - May 10, 2026
Marcellina Gallina (nee Bordin), beloved mother, wife, nonna, zia, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 10th 2026, at the age of 100.

Marcellina, known fondly as Marcella, was born December 29, 1925, in Coste di Maser, Treviso, Italy to parents Alphonso and Candida Bordin. She was the second oldest of 3 daughters and 4 sons.

In June 1952, Marcella immigrated to Canada aboard the ship "Conte Biancamano" leaving Genova to Halifax. She came to Canada to marry her fiancé, Giuseppi Gallina (predeceased in 1991) who travelled to Canada before her to secure a job. Together they built a home in New Westminster raising 3 children: Regina, Rick (predeceased in 1983), and Giani. Marcella was a talented baker, who later baked with Mrs Willman's bakery and in the Woodwards bakery.

Marcella loved knitting and crocheting (specifically slippers, hand towels, and blankets), tending to her garden and fig trees, as well as spending afternoons playing bingo at Century House. She had a talent for finding a good bargain while shopping $1.49 days. She took great pride in sharing treasured family recipes with her granddaughter, keeping family traditions alive through cooking. Marcella also enjoyed watching Jerry Lewis movies and I Love Lucy, which never failed to make her laugh. She carried a deep and unwavering faith in the Catholic Church throughout her life. Her warmth, traditions, humour, and devotion to family will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Marcella also loved to travel and cherished the many adventures she experienced over the years, including trips to Mexico and Cuba and later in life, a memorable five-country European journey with her daughter, son, and granddaughter. This trip was filled with laughter, sightseeing, family memories, and reconnecting with her Italian roots.

Marcella leaves behind her loving children Regina (Neil) McNabb and Giani Gallina; and cherished grandchildren Julia and Kevin (Jaimee). Through Kevin, she had 3 great-grandchildren Logan, and twins Tucker and Ryann. Through Julia, she had a great-grandchild who was named after her, Luca Marcello. She is also survived by her sister Virginia, her brother Attilio, and many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Italy.

Marcella's life spanned a century filled with tremendous change, sacrifice, devotion, and love. She will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to family, her quick wit, and the pride she carried for her culture and traditions.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Normanna Care Home for the care, kindness, and support they provided to Marcella throughout her time there.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on May 27th 2026, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church (7455 10th Ave, Burnaby, BC V3M 3H7), reception immediately follows.
