Today on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, we honour the rich spiritual and cultural traditions of Quebec and Francophone communities across Canada.

As we remember John the Baptist—a voice crying out in the wilderness—we also hold space for voices that continue to seek justice, reconciliation, and belonging in this land.

May this day inspire us to walk humbly, speak courageously, and seek God’s presence in all languages, cultures, and communities.

Bonne fête nationale du Québec. 🌿✝️

As we approach the sacred days of Holy Week, beginning with Jesus’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem this Palm Sunday, we are invited once more to journey with our Lord through his passion, death, and glorious resurrection.

These are days of profound grace—set apart for prayer, reflection, and renewal—where we are called to walk closely with Christ, and his disciples, through the holiest of days and hear the retelling of some of our most sacred stories.

Stories worth hearing again and again... but more importantly worth experiencing in community.

Most of our services/events will be offered in-person and online, but those marked with * will be in-person only. For more info about each service, and for Zoom links, visit our website: https://www.stmaryskerrisdale.ca/weekly-worship/

Immerse yourself in the solemnity of Holy Week by committing to a daily devotion. On the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday during Holy Week, we will offer compline; a service of the word with the psalms and responses chanted. Compline’s name is derived from the latin completorium, or completion, marking the service at the end of day before one takes to rest. Joining us as the guest preacher will be the Ven. Ronald Harrison.

If you haven’t attended services outside of Easter Sunday, we invite you to consider attending just one of the services….pick one…any one….of the Holy Week liturgies. In our experience, folks who attend the Triduum services (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil) for the first time often say, “Woah! I had no idea!” or “How come you didn’t tell me about this service?!” or “If I had known how powerful it would be I would have come many years earlier.” Consider this your invitation to try something new….or return to something familiar.

Most services/events will be offered in-person and online, but those marked with * will be in-person only. For more info about each service and Zoom links, visit our website: https://www.stmaryskerrisdale.ca/weekly-worship/

Lent is often a time when we give things up to allow ourselves to grow closer to God. But if the purpose of Lent is to spend some intentional time growing closer to God, maybe there are things we need to stop or start doing rather than just considering Lent an opportunity to re-up our commitment to our New Year's resolutions that have been long forgotten.

Lent is not just a personal journey—it is a time for the whole community to grow in faith together. As we pray, fast, and serve, we are drawn closer not only to God but also to one another.

In this sacred season, we are invited to bear one another’s burdens, seek reconciliation, and renew our shared commitment to love and justice. We can do this through several ways: our weekly Wednesday Eucharist at 11:30am followed by a soup lunch; the Christian Formation series on Monday nights; perhaps you want to join the newly starting Grief Circle beginning at St Mary's this Monday at 7pm (contact the office to register) –all these allow for the opportunity to journey with others in this season of self reflection.

Lent is not something you need to do in isolation. We want to journey with you.
