As Yom Kippur approaches, I joined CTV Morning Live to talk about this sacred day and the work it asks of each of us.

Yom Kippur gives us the space to reflect on the year behind us, seek forgiveness from one another, and consider how we can enter the new year with greater intention.

May this be a meaningful fast and a day of reflection, forgiveness, and renewal for us all.

G’mar Chatimah Tovah.

I want to make parents of VSB student aware of an important and hard fought for Antisemitism Education Webinar on Wednesday October 30, at 7pm being hosted by the Vancouver School District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC). We strongly encourage those with students in VSB to attend and urge you to please share this invitation with friends and allies. The organizers of this Antisemitism Awareness Webinar faced and continue to face tremendous opposition from some circles to providing this resource to VSB parents. Please show your support by showing up and participating. https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYtfumupz8sHdGK7B6bT8ZOKP-qUCEHxalq #/registration

It had been my intention to close my Hostage Bracelet Project before Rosh Hashanah, but sadly a year later they are still not all home. I have just received a resupply of 2500 bracelets for those still held hostage and presumed to be alive in Gaza. If you would like to order bracelets you can do so on our website www.tilltheyallcomehome.com. I pray every day that this will no longer be necessary. Thus far the project has raised over $35,000 for JFNA and other registered non-profits support the families and combating anti-semitism.

Pretty sure I am preaching to the choir BUT: Protesters calling for a ceasefire at the DNC should redirect their anger towards Hamas and Iran, the true obstacles to regional peace. Israel has expressed a willingness for a ceasefire, but Hamas refuses to release hostages and lay down its arms which perpetuates the violence – most notably to its own citizens. The focus must shift from criticizing Israel's self-defense to pressuring those who instigate and sustain the conflict.

An Obeservation about Political Leadership: there are times when leaders, because of experience, insight and vision know better than the group they have been elected to lead but those times are rare and nuanced. It has been my experience (as a non elected leader of a community) that far more often the people know what is needed and what is best for them and their future. When they tell you that in large and consistent numbers, when they do it “l’shem shamayim” for the sake of heaven or with selflessness they should be listened to and followed. Yes leaders must lead, but more often than not they must listen and follow the will and demands of the majority.
