Hi All...On behalf of St Joseph church Council, Surette's Island, i would like to invite you to the last mass to be celebrated at this church by Pere Cyrille and Bishop Dunn on Sunday ,Feb. 4th at 9am... This will also be the deconsecration of the church , which is an event in itself. Although a sad occasion for the parishioners of Surette's Island and Morris Island, it is a process we must go through. Many of us were baptized, first communion, confirmation, our parents were married here, our grandparents had their funeral masses here, etc., etc...There is a hurt in our hearts, but we need closure. After mass, we will have a get together at our Community Centre( Club), with sandwiches, fruits , sweets, coffee and tea. We will have a montage of photos of many of the families of the 2 Islands celebrating their communion, marriages, etc, many have passed on, many still with us. It will make for a great reminiscence of days gone by, what we wore, those cherished days when we were younger, weddings of yesteryear, etc. At church and Club, we will also have a videographer, to capture this historic occasion. Club is donating sandwiches, tea and coffee-- BIG THANK YOU. ...BUT WE NEED SWEETS!!! Can you make sweets and drop off at Club, we will have someone there starting at 8am ,Sunday morning to accept all your goodies...St Joseph Church Council
