🌽🥕 Celebrating 10 Years of the Good Food Market! 🥕🌽

Our Good Food Market marked its 10th year of operation, with our summer market running from May 20 to August 26 this year, welcoming residents of 44 Willowridge to shop for fresh, affordable produce close to home.

Over the years, we've built lasting friendships and strengthened community connections, and this season was no exception. We had an amazing time serving our neighbours and sharing delicious meals together.

What started as a humble market in 2016 has grown into a true community event. Every Wednesday, children enjoyed colouring, bracelet-making, and sack races while parents shopped, connected, and socialized with friends and neighbours.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers. From unpacking boxes and serving customers to setting up and taking down each week, your dedication makes this program possible. We couldn't do it without you!

Here's to the next 10 years of bringing healthy food, strong connections and serving our community!

This project is presented in collaboration with a number of local partners including FoodShare Toronto and marketcityTO, which provides funding from the City of Toronto’s Economic Development and Culture Division.

🎉 That's a wrap on this year's Neighbourhood Table!

Over six weeks, children explored the journey of nutritious food from farm to table, learning how to grow, harvest, and prepare healthy meals while building confidence in the kitchen.

This program would not have been possible without our incredible partners at Zawadi Farm and FoodShare Toronto's Flemingdon Community Farm, along with our talented chefs, Chef Joshna, Chef Bashir, and Chef Hassan, who shared their knowledge, skills, and passion with participants every step of the way.

This year, we were proud to welcome participants from organizations across the GTA, including The The Arab Community Centre of Toronto, Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services, and the Willowridge community, for a series of fun, hands-on, and educational workshops.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's Neighbourhood Table such a success. We can't wait to do it again next year! 🌱🍅👨‍🍳

What an incredible day at the annual Back to School BBQ organized by the Willowridge community! 🎒☀️

Families came together to celebrate the end of summer with great food, outdoor games, plenty of smiles, and a strong sense of community. St. Philip's was proud to sponsor some of the day's family-friendly activities, including the face painting, bouncy castle, and other fun experiences for children and families to enjoy.

We were also honoured to welcome Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, who joined us in celebrating our vibrant community and meeting local families.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make this event such a success. The laughter, energy, and sense of community made it a day to remember!

This week, families from Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services joined our Neighbourhood Table program to visit Zawadi Farm at Downsview Park.

Zawadi, which means “gift” in Swahili, is a thriving regenerative farm that grows not only fresh food, but also community and dignity in the heart of the city.

The Zawadi team led an engaging workshop on how plants grow, giving families a hands-on opportunity to learn about urban agriculture. Despite the rainy weather, the children rolled up their sleeves and helped prepare the soil for future crops. 🫛🥔🥕

A special thank you to our volunteer chefs, who prepared a delicious chicken shawarma lunch and delivered it to the farm for families to enjoy together.

It was a wonderful day of learning, connection, and community!

The Good Food Market was back for another jam-packed week of fun! As well as selling our usual range of produce at affordable prices, our chef served up delicious corn fritters and jambalaya for the Willowridge community and volunteers!

The children had a blast taking part in traditional sack races, and of course we didn't miss the Canada World Cup match against Switzerland! ⚽️

Have you ever noticed that life can be a bit… messy? At Messy Church, we believe that’s exactly how God likes it. Whether you’re an eye, an ear, a hand, or a foot, each one of us is a vital part of the body—and when we come together, God creates something beautiful through our “mess.”

This past Saturday, we had an amazing time at our outdoor extravaganza exploring 1 Corinthians 12 through our theme: “Beautiful Mess.”

From a delicious barbeque, to parachute games, to wonderfully messy activities, the day was filled with laughter, connection, and creativity. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a joyful celebration of community and faith!

Last night marked the final night of our four-week after school cooking program at Willowridge!

This week, we made a crisp Caesar salad to serve alongside our gourmet grilled cheese, bursting with peppers, mushrooms and onions. For dessert, we layered chocolate chips, granola and fruit to ensemble a delicious yogurt parfait! 🍓🫐

Thank you to the residents of Willowridge, our volunteers, and of course Chef Hassan for making this program such a success!
