: [EN] Our Redemptorist confrères in Saskatoon took part in the clergy retreat of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saskatoon, held at Saint Peter's Abbey in Muenster, Saskatchewan, from June 18 to 22, 2026. The retreat was facilitated by Bishop Michael Brehl, C.Ss.R., of the Diocese of Pembroke.

Frs. Ivel Mendanha, C.Ss.R., and Paul Vinh, C.Ss.R., recently visited the Redemptorist communities in and as part of the General Government’s Fraternal Visitation to the Province of Canada. During both visits, they met and joined the local communities in celebrating the Divine Liturgy.

[EN] The Superior General of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, Fr. Rogerio Gomes, C.Ss.R., issued a clarification stating that the community known as the "Transalpine Redemptorists" has never been part of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (C.Ss.R.) and has never been canonically or juridically affiliated with its General Government.
The clarification follows reports circulating on social media that incorrectly associated the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (C.Ss.R.) with groups outside its canonical structure, including the Transalpine Redemptorists. The latter have announced an episcopal consecration, without a pontifical mandate, scheduled for 25 July on the island of Papa Stronsay in Scotland's Orkney Islands.

[FR] Le Supérieur Général de la Congrégation du Très Saint Rédempteur, le Père Rogerio Gomes, C.Ss.R., a publié une lettre précisant que la communauté connue sous le nom de « Rédemptoristes transalpins » n’a jamais fait partie de la Congrégation du Très Saint Rédempteur (C.Ss.R.) et n’a jamais été affiliée, ni canoniquement ni juridiquement, à son gouvernement général.

Cette lettre fait suite à des informations circulant sur les réseaux sociaux qui associaient à tort la Congrégation du Très Saint Rédempteur (C.Ss.R.) à des groupes extérieurs à sa structure canonique, notamment les Rédemptoristes transalpins. Ces derniers ont annoncé une consécration épiscopale, sans mandat pontifical, prévue le 25 juillet sur l’île de Papa Stronsay, dans l’archipel des Orcades, en Écosse.

On June 26th and 27th, we celebrated the Feast of Bl. Nicholas Charnetsky and his 24 companions, the New Martyrs of Ukraine amongst whom is included Bl. Bishop and Martyr Vasyl Velychkovsky, C.Ss.R. whose relics are housed in St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Beautification of our Martyrs by Pope St John Paul II. We are happy that over 150 people, including a great number of young people, came for the Great Vespers and Rosary Walk on the Eve of the Feast. The preacher for the event was Fr Jay Korban, who shared with all present his reflection on Bl Vasyl and the New Martyrs of Ukraine.

The Priestly Funeral Parastas for Fr. Vladimir will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 14, at 7:00 p.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Saskatoon. The Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 15, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. Interment will follow in the Redemptorist section of the Yorkton City Cemetery.

May our Lord grant His servant, Fr. Vladimir Kolpakov, C.Ss.R., eternal rest, and may his memory remain with us forever.

It is with deep sorrow that the Canadian Province of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) announces the passing of our beloved brother, Rev. Fr. Vladimir Kolpakov, C.Ss.R. on July 1, 2026. He was most recently affiliated with the Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church and Redemptorist Community in Saskatoon (Saskatchewan).

Fr. Vladimir was 76 years old, and had been a professed member of the Congregation for 46 years. He was ordained to the priesthood on December 22, 1985 and exercised most of his pastoral ministry in Saskatchewan.

Information regarding his funeral and internment will be posted over the next few days.

Please keep Fr. Vladimir, his family and relatives, his confrères, and friends in your prayers at this time.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Today, on the Feast of the Holy Chief Apostles Peter and Paul, let us take a moment to look at one of the ministries of the Redemptorists of Canada placed under their patronage— Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Saskatoon, SK.

Established in 1954, the parish offers numerous programs for youth and faith formation that nurture faith, culture, and community. It is also home to several organizations that support a vibrant spiritual, cultural, and social life within the parish.

We celebrate today the Feast of the New Martyrs of Ukraine. This group of men and women were raised to the glory of the altars 25 years ago, on June 27, 2001, by late Pope St. John Paul II during his pilgrimage journey to Ukraine.

They were chosen by the Church because of their Christian witness, because they remained faithful to Christ, to His call in their lives, and continued to be Christ-like to others even as they were arrested, interrogated, tortured, and some even brutally killed. Among them were four men from the Redemptorist Congregation: Blessed Bishop Mykolay Czarneckyj, C.Ss.R., Blessed Ivan Ziatyk, C.Ss.R., Blessed Zynoviy Kovalyk, C.Ss.R., and Blessed Bishop Vasyl Vsevolod Velychkovsky, C.Ss.R., whose relics are enshrined at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church in .

May these holy men and women be for us an example how to be Christ-like to those around us, no matter how difficult situation we might find ourselves in. May they intercede for all of us and for peace in our wounded world.
