Folks, there’s some things in the planning for Brotherhood, we haven’t posted in a while but since the last post we’ve had some stellar events like brisket and bourbon, craft beers and burgers, curling, another beer and burger bbq party, and of course our winter learning sessions with Rabbi Bill Tepper. Our new president, Daniel Abramson, is doing good things along with Cantor David Rosen. We continue to support the victorious Holy B’s softball team, the yarzheit candle initiative at shul, and most recently participated and contributed towards the gift of a rimon sculpture in celebration of Rabbi Yael Splansky’s 25th anniversary at Holy Blosdom Temple. Stay tuned, and don’t forget to renew your HBT membership.

It’s time to find that candle and feather in preparation for Pesach! May your spirits rise higher than matzah, may the maggid recount true woes and not merely inconveniences, and in searching for the afikomen remember that others without homes must search for a meal and not merely dessert.

We were strangers in the land of Egypt, remember that lesson when you see a new face at work, and step forward when someone is having trouble understanding something. And when you’re in a line up at the store and your patience is wearing thin, remember those at the end of the line waiting to cross the Red Sea. It’s the same story but each year we hear it differently.

Finally, next year may we celebrate in person with each other. Chag sameach and we’ll see you online for virtual services.

Holy Blossom Temple Brotherhood wishes Beny and Hope the very best. Beny, you've been our beloved hazzan through the good times and the sad times. Your voice, knowledge, love of Judaism, Chalutz spirit, and your music has shaped our congregation in ways that it wanted and needed to be shaped, and you helped us become better Jews. You will always be a treasured part of us, and we love you very much.

Beny wears many hats, literally and figuratively. 👏👍👌 Holy Blossom Temple

The V'Ahavta clearly tells us to instruct our children. We have a lot to teach them, most definitely these past few days more so than most. We are all created in the image of God, so we are to treat each other with respect. When we see someone abusing their power, or we see bullying, we are not to stand idly by. In an ideal world there would be no racism, but it's not an ideal world. However, in your homes you can create a sanctuary free from racism, teach that to your children as well as other things, and hopefully that message spreads around your own corner of the world.
