"When Jesus entered into a certain village, he met ten men who were lepers, and who stood afar off: and they lifted up their voices, and said, 'Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.' And when he saw them, he said to them, 'Go, show yourselves unto the priests.' And it came to pass, that as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks; and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus said, 'Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the other nine? They did not return to give glory to God, except this stranger.' And he said unto him, 'Arise, go thy way, thy faith has made thee whole.' "

Join us September 13 for our annual Gathering Sunday! The first Sunday after Labour Day is when we welcome back Junior Church and Youth programs with the Blessing of the Backpacks (all are welcome to bring their bags to be blessed!). The choir will return and we'll finish the morning with a Parish Potluck. If you've been thinking about stepping through our red doors, this is a great Sunday to come and see. Bring a friend, make a friend!

The lawyer, wanting to justify himself, asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbour?” And Jesus answered with this parable:

“A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves. They stripped him and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

"And by chance there came down a certain Priest that way, and, when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

"And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

"But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was; and, when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and w**e, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow, when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come again.'

"Which now of these three, do you think, was neighbour to him that fell among the thieves?” And the lawyer said, “He that showed mercy on him.” Then said Jesus unto him, “Go, and do likewise.”

Wonderful to see.

“And they brought to Jesus one that was deaf, and had a speech impediment; and beseeched him to put his hand upon him. And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue; and looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, ‘Ephphatha,’ that is, Be opened. And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plainly.”
