Please join us over at the page for our amalgamated church, Holy Wisdom!
Pastoral note from the Rev. Rajathy Gerlyn Henry
Hello and greetings to you. It has been a pleasure to serve alongside you the past month and a half as the Priest-in-Charge of Holy Wisdom. There has been much to learn and many people to greet. I look forward to the opportunity to meet each one of you.
When we closed our buildings in March of 2020, we absorbed the emotional blow and the deep uncertainty of what the future might hold. But then we learned. We learned how to see one another, trust one another and we emerged as the newly amalgamated church of the Holy Wisdom. We learned to worship both online and in person; we learned how to continue our ministry of outreach. We learned to trust God.
So, I invite you take this summer to rest and rejuvenate. We have a lot to focus on this fall! It’ll be time to re-establish our Sunday School, our Bible Studies, Vespers, choir and newcomers programs; to rebuild our ministry teams of altar guild, hospitality committee and, before you know it, our annual pledge campaign will begin.
Your faithfulness over the past years has convinced me that you will come back. So breathe deeply, knowing that you are loved by God, welcomed by the Church and daily in my prayers. I would love the chance to visit your home, get a cup of coffee or chat at Holy Wisdom. Please give me a call and we will set up a time!
We are also using "expansive language," when possible, in our worship. Our liturgy is a public expression of our inward prayer, and for most of us, images of God are diverse in their expression. So, our prayers should reflect that diversity.
Join us, let us walk the journey of faith together.
Peace,
The Rev. Gerlyn Henry
