We pray for Nepal and surrounding regions affected by the massive devastation caused by a glacial avalanche and flood. Climate change, eco justice, indigenous rights and community work continue to be our mandates. “This has happened before and it will happen again.” - is not a good enough response. If compassion means “to suffer with”, Creator God, we offer up compassionate hearts. - Rev. Brigid Maya

As wildfires continue to impact communities, we pause to lift up all those who have been affected.

We pray for the safety of families who have been displaced, the firefighters and emergency responders working tirelessly to protect our lands, and the community members supporting one another through these difficult times.

May Creator surround everyone with strength, comfort, hope, and healing. May the smoke clear, the fires be contained, and safer days come soon.

Our hearts are with every community facing these challenges.

All gifts are celebrated.
Grace helps light the fire.

“The day after, 48 hrs, 36 hrs… the day after is always tricky. What now? I think there is a gift in silence, in holding each other. But, do we want thoughts and prayers or policy and change? One does not have to negate the other. Safety in our streets must improve. Self-care… family… community also matter. We wish you peace. Thanks for gathering, considering gathering, or saying “nope, it’s too much.” Take care of you in whatever way you can and need. Reach out to others if it gets hard.
Thank you to Elder Catherine, Pastor Miguel, Pastor Jenni and Archdeacon Paul for their leadership. Gratitude to Robin Buyers, Jill Andrew and the staff of St. Matthew’s UC for their support.” - 💕Rev. Brigid Maya

“Dear God, help me pray, to find the words…
[🕯️Light a candle as your able]
For the families who will never be the same again, and for us all, there is a deep sadness… as we reflect on the senseless loss of lives, pain. Fear. We gather in outdoor festivals because of love… a love for community, for diversity, good food, dance, and music. Children, teens, parents, young adults, seniors - we all show up for each other. But now, how can we feel safe again, scrambling for cover, calling each other, ‘Are you ok? Where are you now?’ Thinking, ‘Why won’t they answer their phone?!’
DEAR GOD, HOLD US… [breathe] All of us, we pray, those who believe differently and those who don’t believe.
My heart, my heart is broken. I’m on high alert, I’m angry. Ashamed at the relief of not being there. Yet, I am here, aware, present. And facing the blatant disregard for safety and the sanctity of life, Life-giver, Creator, Love in Community, help us heal through this and comfort those who will struggle to carry on…. Amen.” - Rev. Brigid Maya - St. Matthew’s UC
“I’m out-of-country on vacation, just. I send my deepest of condolences at this time and will watch for how we may serve the community at this time. Peace to you.”
