Great to have had our fearless Chinese Canadian teacher who flew into Canada at the end of October 2025. Wen showing little M***s the fish as we enter the Aquarium in Toronto. She also had a wonderful time meeting up with Vibeke and Michael in Kelowna and also Tonya, Carol, Sandy and Sheryl Rice Menezes and of course me. Wen brought lots of stories from the various temples and we shared a few TWDD meditation practices while she was here, but mostly it was just nice to gather our dharma sangha here in Canada.

Guard Your Thoughts

The mind is very difficult to perceive; very delicate and subtle; it moves and lands wherever it pleases. The wise one should guard his mind, for a guarded mind brings happiness. ~The Dhammpada III:3 Citta Vagga p. 101

This year I feel I have been wrapped up in my mind trying to determine which way to go. Believing that I needed more education, self-development, and business development I have been in a flurry of stuffing my head full of information. And despite my daily practice, I struggled with this confusion and going after shiny objects instead of just doing what I needed to do in the first place. Read this paragraph in the Dhammapada, (you can search it online), it clearly spells out what I just described from my own muddled mind.

Comment if you have experienced this before.

Sorry, this just makes me laugh! In fact last night I attended a Health TechTO event where the latest and brightest health innovators were all in the same room. The Muse (Interaxon) had a booth there. With three people sitting amongst 150 networkers wandering around with wine in one hand, free food in the other. The decibels were shaking the room with networking chatter. If these people were able to meditate kudos to them. I am curious to at least experience and see the process of collecting my brain waves..not to excited to listen to bird sounds!

The most improved meditator got to donate $5,000 to charity.

Happiness is a real possibility, taught the Buddha, if we can but pe*****te our own narcissism.

Daily Dose of Dharma - Shifu's blog:

Some people say,the time when you reach the peak of your life is also time to head downhill; therefore, you should stay away from self-indulgence and arrogance. The hardest time in life, however, may also be a turning point for victory as long as you can take a deep breath and overcome the difficulties.

There hasn't been one enlightened person in this world who succeeded without going through all kinds of hardships and torment. Especially in times of great difficulty we need to see light and our achievement and to have courage. Pessimistic ways of thinking are wrong! Where there is a will, there is a way, and this is the way to follow. ~ Master Haikong

Mindfulness is the path to death. Negligence is the path to death. The mindful do not die, The negligent are dead already.

Daily Dose of Dharma - Shifu's Blog:

Last night, I was moving deeply (into meditation) and saw a peacock spreading his tail to show off his existence and beauty. A crow saw this and started to scream at him: so what? I can fly and have freedom! A hen joined the conversation and said: I can lay eggs! A rooster proudly said: the dawn comes when I crow! And a dog responded with barks: I can protect the property and my master, so I am the number one!

On hearing all this, a camel mumbled: yeah, each one of you is great and talented, however, I can carry people to tour in the desert.

After leaving the samadhi state, I thought that if animals are able to make no scruple to express their strength and make up for their weakness, human being should do better to live in harmony and make the best use of our abilities and talents. This is the way to make this world a better place for all.
