Chokhor Duchen, or the Festival of Turning the Wheel of Dharma, commemorates Buddha Shakyamuni's first turning of the wheel of Dharma by teaching the Four Noble Truths in Sarnath, India, seven weeks after his enlightenment. It occurs on the fourth day of the sixth Tibetan lunar month. It is also a multiplying day according to Tibetan Buddhist texts; the karmic results of any positive or negative actions committed on this day are multiplied by millions of times. Devotees typically celebrate by making offerings, reciting sutras, engaging in traditional group chanting or pujas, and meditating on the teachings of the Buddha.
