The Church of Pentecost Canada Plants a South Asian District
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA | AUGUST 23, 2026
A significant new door for Gospel mission has opened in Winnipeg as The Church of Pentecost Canada inaugurated a new South Asian Assembly to intentionally reach Urdu-, Hindi and Punjabi-speaking communities.
The need is compelling. Winnipeg’s 2021 population was 749,607, including approximately 39,200 Punjabi, 23,300 Hindi and 6,200 Urdu speakers. Yet there remains a significant need for a church intentionally designed to minister across these South Asian language communities. The new assembly therefore provides an important spiritual home and missionary platform for South Asian families who can worship, hear the Gospel and grow in Christ within a familiar linguistic and cultural environment.
Under the missionary vision and leadership of National Head Apostle Ransford Obeng Gyamfi of The Church of Pentecost Canada, the South Asian Churches are responding to this growing mission field in line with the global vision of “Possessing the Nations.”
By God’s grace, on August 23, 2026, Apostle Dr. Jamil Nasir coordinator of South churches, together with Apostle Joseph Tieku inaugurated the new Winnipeg South Asian Assembly, laying a foundation for a wider Gospel movement among South Asians in Manitoba.
This is more than another church opening—it is a response to a mission need.
As the church looks toward vision 2028, this new assembly will serve as a strategic base for expanding Gospel outreach, strengthening discipleship and mobilizing believers to reach more South Asian communities across Winnipeg and beyond. Vision 2028 calls the church to deepen its commitment to evangelism, church planting, leadership development and the multiplication of healthy, Spirit-filled assemblies.
The nations are in our cities. The harvest is before us. The mission field is open. Now is the time to go!
