ty. Rosedale United Church is an inclusive Christian faith community grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ. We gather to worship, to care for one another, and to grow in spirit and service. Through meaningful worship, spiritual care for all ages, and a deep commitment to compassion and justice—locally and globally—we encourage individuals to become a community of faith. We are guided by the affirmation: We are not alone. We gather to learn, to grow, and to serve. The Rosedale Centre is a secular community space that offers music, arts, wellness, and social programming for people of all ages. It is home to concerts, art exhibitions, community meetings, and educational workshops. We rent spaces for performances, gatherings, and private events, and we partner with local artists, educators, and organizations to support cultural expression and community connection. All are welcome. Together, we are committed to human flourishing—supporting the physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing of our community through programs that uplift, spaces that welcome, and values that unite. Whether arriving through the Church or the Centre, individuals are invited to explore, participate, and find belonging in the way that speaks to them.

THIS TUESDAY - A Soirée for Curious Minds Lecture Series
For more than a century, vampires have reflected the fears, desires, anxieties, and obsessions of each new generation. Once portrayed as pure monsters lurking in the shadows, vampires have gradually evolved into romantic outsiders, tragic antiheroes, and even cultural icons.

But what changed?
And what does that shift say about us?

This Tuesday, Prof. Valérie Florentin explores how vampires across literature, film, and popular culture reveal the societies that created them — and the changing ideas of who we fear, who we desire, and who we consider “the other.”

Join us for the final evening in our A Soirée for Curious Minds Lecture Series. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with live piano music in our Art Gallery, along with light refreshments available for purchase before the lecture begins at 7:00 p.m.

📍 159 Roxborough Drive, Toronto
📅 Tuesday, May 26th at 7:00 pm

Join us on Thursday May 7 for a spring-themed mini-retreat!

Spring is a season of transition: moving from the cold, dormant months of winter into a time of warmth, activity, and new life. It offers both inspiration and invitation: to pause, to reflect, and to notice what is stirring within us and around us.

Spring has its own way of teaching us. As light lengthens and the world begins to soften and awaken, we are invited to be discerning and recognize what is ours to carry forward and what may be ready to be set down. It is a time to tend what is just beginning to take shape, to renew our spirit, and to reconnect with the rhythms of growth, change, and becoming.

In this third session of our three-part Changing Seasons series, we turn toward spring as a guide for navigating life’s transitions. Together, we will make space to still the noise—inside and out—and to listen more closely for what is emerging. Drawing on images, texts, and shared reflection, we will explore how we might move forward with resilience and integrity, grounded in a sense of deep time, lineage, and connection to those who came before us.

Whether you are in the midst of a transition or simply feel the quiet pull of a new season, you are warmly invited to join us for this in-person Courage & Renewal® retreat.

ANNOUNCING A NEW LECTURE SERIES:
A Soirée for Curious Minds
A series of evenings full of insight, conversation, and connection!

#1 - Populism in Canada: How Different Are We, Really?
Populism is often seen as something that happens elsewhere, but is Canada really immune? This talk offers a fresh look at populism in Canadian politics and everyday life. It explains what populism is, how it appears in public debate and political parties, and why it matters today. Challenging common misconceptions, the talk shows that populism is not new or marginal in Canada, but a recurring and evolving feature of the country’s political landscape. Participants will come away with a clearer understanding of populism and the main debates surrounding one of the most discussed and misunderstood concepts in contemporary politics.

This first lecture will be delivery by Rémi Vivès, an Associate Professor at York University’s Glendon Campus. His research focuses on populism, political economy, and Canadian politics, with particular attention to political discourse and digital media. He has published in leading academic journals across economics, political science, and sociology, and is a co-founder of the Observatory of Populism in Canada.

Part Two of the Changing Seasons Retreat Series, "Winter's Invitation," is coming up on January 22, 2026 from 10am-3pm. You can attend, even if you didn't attend Part One.

This is a retreat exploring life’s transitions through the wisdom of winter.

Winter has its own way of teaching us. In the quiet months, when light is scarce and the world appears stripped back to its essentials, we are invited to slow down and listen for the deeper currents moving through our lives just below the surface. Winter encourages us toward reflection and rest, toward remembering our place in the long arc of time, and toward reconnecting with the stories – ancestral, communal, and personal – that shape who we are becoming.

What can this season teach us about pausing, reflecting, letting go, and trusting what is emerging beneath the surface? How might the stillness of winter help us discern what is ours to carry forward – and what is ready to be set down? And how does deep time, lineage, and the presence of those who came before us offer grounding and perspective as we enter the next phase of our lives?

Whether you are navigating a transition now or simply feel the pull of winter’s quiet invitation, we welcome you to join us for this in-person retreat.
