How blessed that we are given a beautiful mother, Mary! A blessed Mother most chaste and meek in whom we honour. A holy figure – a model – of devoted love and service to our Lord. Through her immaculate heart we see a heart that is purely open to God – a heart full of trust and love that persists through even the greatest of sorrows.

On this blessed day, let us pray to our Blessed Mother that our hearts may be like her immaculate heart. Through her powerful intercessions, may we have the confidence to grow deeper in love with God, willing and open to what is in God’s will.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Ad Iesum Per Mariam.

“Do not let the past disturb you. Leave everything in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and begin again with joy.” - St. Teresa of Calcutta

The relationship between God and man - ever since the beginning - is a relationship of man turning away and going back to God. But the unfaithfulness of man is superseded by the unrelenting faithfulness of God. God is love and God is faithful to his name. We turn away and God respects our choice, but He yearns for us to come back to His loving arms. Even through our own pains and sufferings, He is with us, sharing the load.

Today we turn towards the most Sacred Heart of Jesus. A heart that knows us and desires us every waking day. A heart wounded by our sins which pours out tender mercy.

It does not matter if you feel that you have been too far gone. It does not matter about the kinds of wrongdoings done in the past. Jesus’ Sacred Heart is of infinite love. He wishes to forgive us, and sin no more. But most importantly, He wants us to forgive ourselves: to believe in ourselves in the same way He believes in us.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

“The Eucharist is truly a glimpse of heaven appearing on earth. It is a glorious ray of the heavenly Jerusalem which pierces the clouds of our history and lights up our journey.” - St. John Paul II

June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus! ❤️‍🔥

"The evangelists repeatedly describe him as being 'moved with compassion.' He notices the hungry crowd before they ask for food (Mt 14:14–16); he stops for the blind man others try to silence (Mk 10:46–52), and he restores dignity to those whom society has forgotten (Lk 7:13). These moments reveal something profound: the heart of Christ is never distant from human need. It is a heart that sees, listens, and responds (Heb 4:15). And as the Church pondered these scenes - above all in the act of redemption when the side of Christ Crucified was opened - we too learn to speak ever more clearly of the love revealed in his Heart."

Message on the Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 1 June 2026, His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto
