As always, we were blessed to hear updates from our seminary, McMaster Divinity College, at Assembly this year. We were especially grateful to hear about a number of incredible opportunities for CBOQ students to study at this school. Did you know that CBOQ students can qualify for up to 75% in funding for courses at MDC? There are a number of wonderful programs suitable for people at many faces of ministry – or you may want to take an individual course to continue your learning. Thank you McMaster Divinity College for serving us so well!

It was a joy, as always, to welcome Past Presidents of CBOQ to a special lunch on Wednesday evening before Assembly started. In this yearly gathering, we offer a special pin to the outgoing Past President, and pray for the President who will moderate the business meetings the next day. We also have a special time of hearing the blessings and challenges that each President faced while they served, and invite them to share words of wisdom with the incoming president. It is always a very meaningful time, and we are so thankful for all the presidents who have served us through the years. Please be in prayer this coming year for our new President, Rev. George Mah.

This year at Assembly we did something new to honour people who hit significant milestones in 2025. We invited new ordinands, and those who celebrated 25, 40, 50, or 60 years of ordination to a special lunch on Thursday prior to Assembly. What a special time it was! We were blessed to share a special certificate and gift with each person who attended in person (and will mail these to those who could not attend in person), and to hear words of wisdom from many of our long serving ministry leaders. How exciting to be blessed with the presence of two people celebrating 50 years of ministry – Laurie Barber and Das Sydney. We are so thankful for the faithful ministry of those beginning ministry and those continued in ministry after many years all throughout CBOQ and wish you all congratulations and blessings. We look forward to continuing this new tradition – if you are celebrating a milestone in 2026, we look forward to celebrating you next June!
