With gratitude, we announce that Commissioner Rosalie Peddle of the Salvation Army has created and shared an 11-minute message on justice and peace for the World Day of Prayer 100th anniversary service video. It is inspiring!

Thank you as well to many members of the Salvation Army who worked behind the scenes to record, edit and then share the finished project with WICC. Please note that Rosalie's message will be available as a stand-alone video, as well.

A little bit about Commissioner Peddle ...

Rosalie was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal on June 20, 2025, in recognition of her exceptional service and significant contributions. She was nominated for this prestigious national honour by the Canadian Council of Churches

Details About Her Award: Distinction. She received the medal for her courageous and exemplary leadership, particularly as a role model for women leaders within the faith community.

A prominent leader within The Salvation Army, Commissioner Peddle previously served as the World President of Women's Ministries.

Each year, the World Day of Prayer writing committee invites an artist to create a piece that reflects the chosen theme.

For 2027, the theme is United in Prayer for Justice and Peace. The artwork is entitled River of Prayer and was painted by Shams Saad.

As summer holidays draw to a close across most of Canada, let us pray for and protect children as they return to school and all learning opportunities. May we rejoice in the freedom and joy they experienced during July and August, whether swimming, picking strawberries, riding a horse, catching a fish, or having a sleepover with Grandma and Grandpa. We also pray for teachers returning to the classroom, that they can inspire their students to learn, grow friendships and become part of an enriched community.

The Women's Inter-Church Council of Toronto invites all who can make it to Cu**er United Church on the morning of Saturday, October 17th to explore and understand the resources for the 100th anniversary World Day of Prayer service.

Registration starts at 9:00 am.

Location: 53 Cu**er Avenue (just east of Yonge; halfway between Steeles and Finch)

All are welcome!

Suggested donation of $20 /participant to help cover the costs of the venue, supplies and refreshments.

From the WDP 100th anniversary service recording on August 6, 2026, at St Andrew's Presbyterian in Lindsay, ON ... our volunteer choir singing We Glorify Your Way of Love.

Thank you to Ferg McMahon of Peterborough, ON, who captured the vocalists, including his mom, Becky, from his seat in the balcony.

"How Good to Live as One" - music for the World Day of Prayer 100th anniversary service being recorded at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Lindsay, ON, on August 6th.

Sometimes WICC gets asked... what is the follow-up to World Day of Prayer services?

It can be ecumenical social justice projects, planning for the following year, new community groups and much, much more.

Sometimes it's blossoming friendships that lead to invitations to wonderful social gatherings.

Sharing and caring. That's our experience with Glenda Klein of Lindsay, ON.

When the WDP 100th anniversary video was being recorded at St. Andrew's Presbyterian in Lindsay, ON, Glenda invited WICC to her house to see and then use collected WDP artifacts for the video and/or the upcoming 100th anniversary launch at Cu**er United in Toronto on the morning of Saturday, October 17th.

Today's picture is from August 16th, when the Anne McKinnon purse and Canadian pins for the WDPIC meeting in June 2027 in Ghana were picked up.
