Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada Rooted in Faith. Called to Action. We are, "Rooted In Faith. Called to Action."

The Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada (WICC) is a national council of representatives from 11 denominational partners, which focuses on social justice, women's issues, ecumenism, and the growth of women's spirituality. We are the coordinating body in Canada for the World Day of Prayer and The Fellowship of the Least Coin. The Council respects diversity; fosters connections between church and

society; creates opportunities for communication, education, advocacy and theological critique; and encourages expressions of spirituality rooted in women's experiences. Our organization traces its roots to women's missionary societies and operates on the principle of informed prayer and prayerful action. Through our major programs, donations, bequests and support from our denominational partners, WICC is able to offer grants annually to projects, within Canada and internationally, that benefit women and children.

A beautiful WDP 2026 picture from St. John's in Perth, ON.

Thank you to all who read, sang, provided refreshments, greeted guests and much, much more to make this service a reality.

The theme for the WDP 2027 service is United in Prayer for Peace and Justice. In 1927, the theme was Pray Ye Therefore. Let us be grateful for the changes over the last ten decades that have improved social justice for women.

Thank you to Cleo Cyr who shared photos from the WDP 2026 service at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Hammond River, NB, including one of the organizers.

Many thanks to all who volunteered and all who attended this ecumenical event.

"It was a meaningful and well-organized service," was a comment we received on the beautiful WDP 2026 Nigeria service at Church of the Nativity in Toronto (Malvern area). Geography note: Malvern is a major residential neighbourhood located in the far northeastern corner of the city, in the district of Scarborough, Toronto.

Thank you to the service coordinator, Noreen Callender, all the volunteers, those who attended, the donors, and also to Latha Mitchell, who took the pictures featured today.

The entire service at Nativity can be watched at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk5DkZ7jYTM. One note: the audio begins at 7:46.

A Prayer for Healing and Comfort

God, we come to You today with heavy hearts, lifting up the parents, families, and loved ones of those who have been lost. We cannot fathom the profound pain, confusion, and grief they are carrying.

We ask that You wrap Your loving arms around these grieving parents. In their moments of overwhelming sorrow and unanswered questions, be their refuge. Grant them a peace that surpasses all understanding, and provide them with the strength to face each new day.

Surround them with a community of compassion, understanding, and support. Send people who will listen without judgment and walk beside them through the darkest valleys of their grief.

We pray for justice, for truth, and for healing across all communities impacted by these tragedies. Guide these families through this long journey of healing, and let Your love be the anchor that holds them steady.

In Your holy name, we pray.

Amen.

WICC's Mission: Empowering Christians to pursue justice, peace and reconciliation by standing together in prayer and action.

Scripture introducing the birth of the Christian church in Acts 2:1-31 is a wonderful Bible study opportunity to explore how we can unite despite our many differences.

On this Pentecost Sunday, as we walk out, let us impact the lives of others, especially women, who deserve greater social justice.

The word "Pentecost" comes from the Greek word "pentekoste," meaning fiftieth. Pentecost Sunday is the 50th day since Easter Sunday.

Treasures were for sale across Canada as people set up Victoria Weekend yard sales!

Many thanks to Mary Anne MacEachern for donating calendar samples from the early 1930s for the Toronto launch of the WDP 100th Anniversary on October 17, 2026 at Cu**er United. (They will also be available for services.) And thank you, as well, to the person who dropped off the samples for Mary Anne's yard sale which has been raising money for breast cancer research for 20 years!

When WDP centennial services and launches are finished for 2027, these calendar samples will be donated to interested museums and/or sold to raise money for social justice projects for women.
