The Office of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Toronto is here to assist Catholics who are living their primary vocation (as disciples of Jesus Christ) helping to find within that their own particular and unique vocation if that is Priesthood, Religious Life or the Permanent Diaconate. For those who feel a call to serve the Church in these ways – you’ve come to the right place! Our goal is to help

you on your unique journey to respond to God’s calling. We support men considering or discerning (trying to prayerfully figure out) a possible call from the Lord to the diocesan priesthood with the discernment programs we offer. We can offer referrals based on conversation with the Director of Vocations for women and men considering religious life. The Office of Vocations offers a friendly atmosphere and we host events that allow discerners an opportunity to meet others as well. Jesus invited you here. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Matt McCarthy for his generous and faithful service as Director of the Office of Vocations.

Through his dedication, joyful witness, and unwavering commitment to fostering vocations, Fr. Matt has inspired countless young men and women to listen to God’s call with courage and trust. His leadership, compassion, and love for the Church have left a lasting impact on our diocesan community, and we are deeply grateful for the many lives he has touched.

As he begins this exciting new chapter as Pastor of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Oshawa, we offer our prayers and best wishes. May the Lord continue to bless his ministry with wisdom, strength, and abundant joy, and may the parish community be enriched by his pastoral care and faithful leadership.

Thank you, Fr. Matt, for your generous service and for saying “yes” to wherever God leads. Be assured of our prayers as you embark on this new mission. Congratulations, and God bless you always!
