Jai Durga Hindu Society Scarborough is a registered charity that operates as Sri Vrindavan Dhaam. The charity was established on November 1, 1984, in Scarborough, Ontario, and its first location was in a commercial unit behind its current location at 2701 Markham Road in Scarborough. The Society is committed to serving the Hindu community's spiritual, cultural, social, and educational needs in the
Eastern part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including Durham Region, Markham, Scarborough, and throughout the GTA. The organization's mission is to promote and teach the religious tenets, doctrines, observances, teachings, and learning of Hindu Philosophy, music, arts, devotional songs, and cultural aspects associated with the Hindu (Sanatana Dharma) faith. The organization's long-term objective is to establish itself as a leading learning and teaching institution in the GTA and surrounding areas. The core devotees and audience of Jai Durga are those interested in learning and practicing Hinduism and Hindu culture in all its forms, regardless of their national origin. Generally, the devotees come from many countries and have migrated and settled in the GTA, originating in India, Fiji, Mauritius, South Africa, Guyana, Trinidad, Sri Lanka, and many other countries. They aim to maintain their Hindu culture and religion while integrating into Canadian Society. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in the events. The Spiritual Leaders of the Society can deliver religious and other services in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English, attracting audiences from many different backgrounds, especially young people and English-speaking audiences who do not speak Hindi.
