Yesterday’s gathering was a lovely time with the Lord and with one another. From the songs we sang, to the edifying stories shared, to the Word we received, to the care given and joy received by our kids, to the fruitful discussion and the fun in the rain!

Let’s take a moment to recap the key points from our message yesterday found in Zephaniah 2. Let us use the instruction of God’s Word to springboard us forward this week.

1) Seek the Lord
2) Seek Righteousness
3) Seek Humility
4) (The Bonus) from Verses 5-15: God permits judgment, but He does not forget His promise to those who are His own.

Allow God to pull up anything in our lives that prevent us from walking closely with Him.

Begin today. “SEEK THE LORD.” Don’t let God be simply be an add-on to your day. Let Him be at the centre of everything you do, think and say.

Carve out time to read His Word and pray. Encourage one another and even share if you are struggling doing it - let’s use this as an opportunity to share those burdens together.

“Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land,
who do his just commands;
seek righteousness; seek humility;
perhaps you may be hidden
on the day of the anger of the Lord.” (Zephaniah 2:3)

We are thankful for the means we have to gather online, especially during the pandemic. But meeting together in person was something this hug-loving community truly missed! It has been especially challenging having no physical building to gather.

But as the popular saying goes, if there’s a will, there’s always a way! Through the lovely weather, God has made a way for us to gather again physically at Thomson park, every Sunday at 10:30am.

It has been a great time of worship in the midst of His creation, declaring the greatness of Jesus Christ to each person passing by.

Feel free to join us!

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NASB‬‬

The ability to discern the person in front of us is key in our walk. We can learn much in this simple interaction between a lawyer and Jesus.

The teacher of the law asks Jesus, “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

The Lord responds "What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”

What a wise response! Oftentimes we are so quick to give a response to our neighbour’s questions, without first enquiring their understanding of scripture. Jesus met the lawyer where he is. The Lord could have gone into great detail on how to do so and yet he probed.

By learning and applying this precept, we can engage in meaningful conversations and become better listeners. Like Jesus, we get to meet people where they are, and avoid the snare of prideful and unfruitful arguments. We are all a work in progress and the bible tells us that we go from faith to faith; glory to glory! Hallelujah!

As you continue to learn and be conformed in the image of Christ, you literally change for the better! Keep going for the Kingdom and Glory of Jesus Christ!

"Holy Father we thank you for the wisdom imparted through your word. Father we ask in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, that you help us become wise in conducting ourselves in this world. Help us see different perspectives before giving our own opinion and belief. Let us be swift to hear, slow to speak. Continue to mold and shape us in the image of your Son Jesus, Amen."

Exhortation from: Richard Chua

In a world that is constantly changing, how can we find satisfaction and contentment, when tomorrow may not even be guaranteed? Material possessions, career aspirations, personal relationships, and health may bring satisfaction, but only for a moment.

The Samaritan woman who sought to supply her physical need for water, encountered Jesus at Jacob’s well. This encounter brought to light that there is so much more to life than simply striving to meet our physical needs. Jesus says to the Samaritan woman...

“If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water... Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” (John 4:10, 13-14 NLT)

What are you chasing after for satisfaction? Be reminded today – Jesus Christ is the living water. His life is OUR gift from God. Whoever puts their faith and trust in Him, WILL BE SATISFIED.

“And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” (Isaiah 58:11)

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)

“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.” (Jeremiah 31:25)

“Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.” (Psalm‬ ‭90:14)

“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Philippians 3:7-8)

We value the Word of God. Plain and simple. It's truth. It's life. And we are meant to immerse ourselves in it. If you are doing that amongst your own Church family, I commend you for being committed to the task. But don't settle for a YouTube sermon (as edifying as it can be). The community of Christ is meant to come together to study as one. So don't miss out on the open invitation to dive into the truths of 1John with our community. Tomorrow night at 8pm! Let this be a needed reminder those of us who walk in Christ!

02/25/2021

We are the recipients of the impershiable seed of Christ. Therefore, we cannot walk in evil. We must walk as children of God. Don't miss the opportunity to be ambassadors of righteousness and take the seed that was implanted to you and share it with others.

"No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God." (1John 3:9, ESV)

“The bible instructs us to guard our hearts with all diligence. We must be careful about what we think and meditate upon, because what is in our hearts will be reflected in our actions, our behavior, and our speech. We are to fill our hearts with what is good so that nothing but good proceeds from it.

What has been overwhelming your thoughts? Since sin always begins in our minds, believers must take every thought captive so that it conforms to the will of God. Meditating on true, pure, and positive thoughts will help to build a fence of protection around our hearts.”

Excerpts from “Love God Greatly” devotional

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them And health to all their body. Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth And put devious speech far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet And all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left; Turn your foot from evil.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:20-27 (NASB)

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:5‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭(NASB)

“A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.” Luke‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)
