Following Jesus to the Margins
Jesus had a remarkable habit of going where others wouldn't. He crossed cultural boundaries, ate with outcasts, and touched the untouchable. His ministry wasn't confined to comfortable synagogues or safe neighbourhoods—He consistently moved toward the margins of society. This pattern reveals something profound about God's heart: He is drawn to the forgotten, the rejected, and the unreached.

When Jesus sent out His disciples, He told them the harvest was plentiful, but the workers were few.

Today, that reality is starkly evident with only one missionary for every 227,000 unreached people. But here's the encouraging truth: Jesus doesn't call us to go alone. He promises to be with us, and He's already preparing hearts in the hardest places.

Whether God calls you across the ocean or across the street, following Jesus means being willing to step outside our comfort zones to reach those who need His love most.

Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." - Luke 10:2

Reflect…
Q - What margins in your community, your workplace, school, or neighbourhood—might Jesus be calling you to cross with His love?
Pray…
Jesus, give me courage to follow Your example by reaching out to those on the margins. Show me where You want me to go and who You want me to love. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

The Light That Pierces Darkness
In a world where billions live without knowing Jesus, we often wonder how God's light can reach the darkest corners of our planet.

The apostle John reminds us in 1:4 that in Jesus was life, and that His life is the light of all people, and this light shines in the darkness without being overcome. This isn't just poetic language—it's a promise of hope for every unreached village, every persecuted believer, and every person who feels forgotten. The light of Christ doesn't dim based on geography or circumstances. Whether someone lives in a remote mountain village or a hostile urban environment, God's light has the power to pe*****te any darkness.

Today, as we consider the 3.4 billion people who have never heard the gospel, we can take comfort knowing that God's light is already at work, preparing hearts and opening doors in ways we cannot see. The same light that brought you hope can reach anyone, anywhere.

Read…
In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. - John 1:4-5

Reflect…
Q - How has God's light pe*****ted the dark places in your own life?
Q - How might He want to use your story to bring hope to others?

Pray…
Lord, thank You that Your light is unstoppable and reaches every corner of creation. Help me trust that You are already at work in the darkest places of our world. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

To the Hard and Dark Places
This week we continue our Global Mission Conference 2026 as guest teacher Damien Lee challenges us to lift our eyes beyond ourselves and see the world through the heart of God.

Throughout Scripture, we see a God who moves toward brokenness rather than away from it. He pursues the lost, strengthens the vulnerable, comforts the suffering, and brings light into the darkest places. Damien reminded us that this same mission continues today through the global Church.

It can be overwhelming to consider the needs of our world. Millions have never heard the name of Jesus. Many believers face persecution because of their faith. Countless families live in poverty, displacement, and uncertainty. Yet the story of God has never been one of retreat. It has always been one of hope advancing into darkness.

This week, we will reflect on God's heart for the nations, the call to faithful engagement, and the privilege of participating in His mission. We will be reminded that God often works through ordinary people who simply make themselves available to Him.

Whether across the world or across the street, God invites each of us to carry the hope of Christ into places that need His light.

Because the mission of God is not merely something we support. It is something we are invited to join.

Think
Q - If you could visit any country in the world for one month, where would you go and why?

Read
John 1:4-5
Mark 5:25-34
Romans 15:20
Matthew 28:19-20

Pray
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your heart for the nations and for people who have yet to know Your love. Open my eyes this week to see the world through Your compassion and help me respond with faith, generosity, and obedience. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Seeing People Differently
As we come to the end of this week, we are reminded that one of the clearest ways we reflect the heart of God is in how we see people.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus continually moved toward those others ignored, rejected, or overlooked. He crossed boundaries. He challenged prejudice. He restored dignity. And again and again, He reminded people that every human life carries value because every person is created in the image of God.

This truth changes how we live.

It changes how we respond to suffering.

How we speak about others.

How we approach compassion and justice.

And how we participate in God’s mission in the world.

Throughout this week, we have been reminded that the gospel is deeply personal, but never private. God’s love was never meant to stop with us. It is meant to move through us into the lives of others.

That does not mean we can solve every problem or fix every broken situation. But it does mean we refuse to become indifferent. We ask God to keep our hearts soft, attentive, and willing to respond when He calls.

As Global Mission Conference continues, may we carry this posture forward. A willingness to see people the way Jesus sees them. To notice those who are hurting. To move toward others with compassion. And to faithfully participate in the work God is already doing around the world.

Because every person matters deeply to God.

Read…
So God created mankind in his own image… - Genesis 1:27

Reflect…
Q - Who in your life or community might God be inviting you to see more intentionally through His eyes this week?

Pray…
Lord Jesus, thank You that every person is created in Your image and deeply loved by You. Help me to see people with greater compassion, humility, and grace. Keep my heart soft and willing to participate in Your mission wherever You lead. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Justice as Worship
We often think of worship as singing songs or attending church services, but what if worship is much bigger than we've imagined? What if seeking justice and showing compassion are also acts of worship?

When we care for the vulnerable, we're not just being nice – we're reflecting the character of the God we serve. We don't worship kindness itself; we worship a compassionate God. We don't worship justice as an abstract concept; we worship a just God who calls us to live justly.

Every 11 seconds, a child dies because of hunger and malnutrition. These aren't just statistics; they represent image-bearers of God whose lives matter infinitely. When we work to address such injustices, we're participating in God's heart for the world.

This requires both changed hearts and changed systems. Personal transformation is essential, but so is addressing the structures that leave vulnerable people without a voice. It's complex and challenging work, but it's part of following Jesus faithfully.

As you go forward, remember that seeking justice isn't a distraction from your faith - it's an expression of it. When you stand up for the marginalized, care for the poor, or work for systemic change, you're worshiping the God who loves justice and calls His people to do the same.

Read…
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. - Micah 6:8

Reflect…
Q - What specific injustice in your community or the world breaks your heart, and how might God be calling you to respond?

Pray…
Lord, show me how to worship You through acts of justice and compassion. Give me wisdom and courage to address both hearts and systems that need transformation. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Everyone Matters to God
God's heart is vast enough to hold every person on earth. While He loves you individually and intimately, His love doesn't stop with you. It extends to every corner of creation, every community, every person who has ever lived or ever will live.

Every hungry child matters to God. Every refugee person matters to God. Every unhoused neighbour, every elderly person abandoned in loneliness, every immigrant family navigating fear, every person with disabilities wondering whether the world has space for their dignity.

Everyone matters to God.

This isn't just a nice sentiment; it's a call to action. When we truly grasp that God's heart breaks for human suffering everywhere, we can't remain indifferent to the pain around us. We become agents of God's love and justice in a broken world.

The Hebrew word 'mishpat' – often translated as justice – appears over 200 times in the Old Testament. It consistently describes God's heart for the vulnerable: widows, orphans, immigrants, and the poor. This isn't a side issue or optional add-on to faith; it's central to who God is and what God cares about.

As followers of Jesus, we're called to have tender hearts that reflect God's compassion for all people. When our hearts align with God's heart, we naturally become advocates for those who need it most.

Read…
He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. - Psalm 146:7-9

Reflect…
Q - How can you practically demonstrate that everyone matters to God in your daily interactions and choices?

Pray…
God, expand my heart to match Yours. Help me care deeply about human flourishing everywhere and move me to action on behalf of those who are suffering. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Seeing with God's Eyes

Picture the scene: a Jewish Rabbi approaches a Samaritan woman at a well (John 4:6-7). Everything about this encounter broke social conventions. She was a woman in a patriarchal society, a Samaritan in a culture of ethnic prejudice, and someone with a complicated personal history in a community that valued moral purity.

Yet Jesus stopped. He looked her in the eyes. He acknowledged her full humanity.

This is how Jesus always operated. No matter how hurried people wanted Him to be, Jesus always took time to truly see people. He didn't see categories or stereotypes; He saw individuals created in God's image. He didn't see problems to avoid; Jesus saw people to love.

The woman at the well had multiple strikes against her in that culture, but Jesus saw what others missed: a person worthy of dignity, respect, and love. His simple act of asking for water became a profound declaration that she mattered to God.

When we begin to see people as God sees them – as image-bearers deserving of dignity – everything changes. We stop dehumanizing and start humanizing. We stop avoiding and start approaching. We stop judging and start loving. This shift in perspective is essential for living out the whole gospel.

Read…
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. - Psalm 86:15

Reflect…
Q - Who in your life do you struggle to see through God's eyes of compassion and love?

Pray…
Lord, transform my vision to see people as You see them. Help me look beyond surface differences to recognize the inherent dignity in every person I encounter. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

The Path Through Samaria
Jesus had a choice. Like other Jewish travelers, He could have taken the longer route around Samaria to avoid contact with people His culture considered inferior (John 4). Instead, He chose the direct path - straight through a region whose inhabitants were systematically dehumanized and marginalized.

This wasn't just about geography; it was about theology. Jesus' decision to travel through Samaria sent a powerful message about the Kingdom of God. While society built walls of separation, Jesus built bridges of connection. Where others saw contamination, He saw creation. Where others saw enemies, He saw neighbors.

The Samaritans were called half-breeds, dirty, unclean, lesser than. Sound familiar? Throughout history, dehumanizing language has preceded some of humanity's greatest atrocities. When we start seeing others as less than human, we justify treating them as such.

Jesus' journey through Samaria reminds us that in God's Kingdom, everyone has dignity and worth. No matter what society says about certain groups of people, God sees each person as created in His image. Following Jesus means choosing the path that honours the humanity of all people, even when it's inconvenient or countercultural.

Read…
Now he had to go through Samaria. So, he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. - John 4:4-5

Reflect…
Q - What 'Samarias' in your life have you been avoiding?
Q - How might God be calling you to take a different path?

Pray…
Jesus, give me courage to follow Your example by choosing paths that honor the dignity of all people. Help me see others through Your eyes of love and compassion. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Beginning the Journey
Yesterday, we officially launch our Global Mission Conference 2026: Joining Jesus, with guest Pastor Eugene Cho challenging us with a powerful reminder about the heart of God and the call of the gospel.

In John 4, Jesus intentionally travels through Samaria, a place many others would have avoided. In doing so, He reveals something profound about the Kingdom of God. Jesus moves toward people others overlook. He sees dignity where others see division. He brings truth, compassion, mercy, and hope.

And Jesus invites His followers to do the same.

Throughout this week, we will reflect on what Pastor Eugene described as “the whole gospel.” A gospel that not only proclaims salvation through Jesus, but also reflects the heart of God through compassion, justice, mercy, and love for people created in His image.

This is not about choosing between evangelism, justice or compassion. It is about recognizing that the gospel transforms both hearts and lives. God cares deeply about people. About the overlooked, the hurting, the vulnerable, and the unseen. And as followers of Jesus, we are invited to reflect His heart to the world around us.

As we enter the first of three weeks of Global Mission Conference, may God enlarge our vision beyond ourselves. May He soften our hearts toward the needs of others. And may we become people who not only believe the gospel, but embody it with love, humility, and compassion.

Because the mission of God has always been about bringing His hope to the world.

Think
Q - If you could travel anywhere in the world to serve others, where would you go?
Q - What type of service would you provide?

Read
- John 4:1-10
- Micah 6:8
- Psalm 86:15
- Psalm 146:7-9
- Isaiah 61:8

Pray
Lord Jesus, thank You for showing us the heart of the Father through the way You loved and saw people. Open my eyes this week to recognize the needs around me and give me a heart that reflects Your compassion, mercy, and truth. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
