Today we are invited to contemplate the mystery of God. We celebrate the one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and rejoice in the very essence of God's being: the perfect love that unites the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and draws us into communion with them.

Today, as we celebrate the birthday of the Church, marked by the fire of the Holy Spirit, let us pray for the grace to recognize our deep dependence on God. May the Holy Spirit come upon us and fill us with His gifts of wisdom, understanding, fortitude, knowledge, reverence, and holy fear of the Lord, so that, united in faith and love, we may each fulfill our part in serving the common good and loving God and one another.

Today the Lord is urging us to act. He calls us to step beyond our comfort and to go forth, proclaiming His name and His commandments to all. As we do this, He fulfills the promise spoken at His birth: “They shall call him Emmanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” And truly, He remains with us always, even to the end of the age.

Today we are called both to love God and to receive His love. Let us remember who we are—Christians—and choose to keep the Lord’s commandments, even when faithfulness brings suffering. If we suffer for doing what is good, God will gently lead us toward eternal joy in His timeless friendship.

Today we are reminded that faith and works cannot be separated. We rejoice in knowing our Heavenly Father through Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Following the example of the Apostles and the seven men of good repute, we rejoice in serving one another, serving the Church, and serving God.

Today we are called to discern the voices that speak to our hearts. Let us release the voices of temptation, of wealth, of worldly values that urge us to betray who we truly are just to fit into society. Instead, let us cling to the voice of the Shepherd, who whispers gently, “I am with you always.” May we follow Him who calls us to holiness, to greater heights, and to a renewed relationship with His loving heart.

Today we pray for the grace to recognize the Lord’s presence at every moment. As we receive Holy Communion—the greatest gift, God giving himself to us—may our hearts open wide, and may the eyes of our faith truly behold the Lord whom we receive. And when we leave the church, just as the disciples hurried from Emmaus back to Jerusalem, may our words and our deeds joyfully proclaim to the world that Jesus lives within our hearts.
