𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫-𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬! 🎒

As the new school year begins, we are excited to welcome our kids, along with some new families, back to our after-school programs. At TCM, we provide free after-school programs for children and youth impacted by poverty. We engage kids in positive activities, provide mentorship and homework assistance, and teach them about the hope of Jesus through Bible lessons.

Through His power, we pray each will come to know Christ and lead a transformed life. 💖

𝙄𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙖𝙝 𝘼𝙣𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙝 | 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨

This summer, Isaiah is returning to Sonshine Day Camp, this time serving at Jesse Ketchum! He was so encouraged by the campers’ eagerness to learn about God. Their excitement challenges him to read His Word with the same curiosity and joy. Through serving in different ways, from teaching Bible lessons to simple conversations with kids and their parents, Isaiah found God teaching him that every small act of faithfulness has an eternal impact.

𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙖 𝙉𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞 | 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝘼 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝘼𝙨 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨
Reflecting on the story of Esther, Menanyamba was reminded that it was no accident that she was serving at Don Valley Village this summer–it was a sacred privilege. God placed her in this position in this exact moment for an eternal purpose. Even serving behind the scenes carries eternal purposes.

𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙄 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 | 𝙈𝙞𝙠𝙖𝙚𝙡 𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙯𝙖

Returning for a second internship, Mik was unsure of God’s purpose for him this summer. “Do I really belong here?” As Mik and the team taught the story of Joseph, he felt encouraged. Joseph’s life was full of twists and turns, but he continued to cling to God. God’s purpose for Mik is yet to unfold, but he figured if where he belongs depends entirely on God, like Joseph, he could never be lost.

We thank God for the meaningful relationships built over the summer!

Please continue to pray that our campers will develop a personal relationship with God. Pray for the families who are moving away, for the opportunity to serve the new families in the fall and our summer interns' personal walk with God after the internship.

𝙏𝙬𝙤 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙊𝙣𝙚 | 𝙉𝙖𝙤𝙢𝙞 𝙈𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙮

Naomi once believed that strength meant total independence, but this summer, God taught her that running a camp wasn’t a solo mission; in fact, God desires us to work together as a team to further His Kingdom. Naomi realizes that needing support from her teammate isn’t weakness. Instead, leaning on our brothers and sisters in Christ, encouraging and supporting each other, is exactly what God desires us to do.

𝙒𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙮 | 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙡 𝙏𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙯𝙞𝙖𝙣

“We can try” has been a familiar refrain for Daniel since the first day of his internship. This summer, Daniel worked with an Outreach Worker to launch the first-ever youth summer camp at Orton Park. Whenever he brought up new program ideas, it was always met with an optimistic yet cautious response: “We can try.” Little did he know, this refrain would bear a much deeper meaning. Throughout the summer, God has been teaching Daniel that he can try his best ability to plan an activity or Bible lesson, but only God can transform their hearts.

𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙤 𝘼𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣! | 𝙅𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙖𝙝 𝘼𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙚𝙮

After a rewarding summer at Sonshine Day Camp last year, Josiah has returned to serve with our Orton Park community. It is through sports and group activities where Josiah reflects Jesus best; displaying generosity and humility in every game. Though he may be a leader, Josiah is learning plenty from the children he works with. Through these experiences, he’s come to realize that God has blessed us with unique gifts that are meant to be used to serve Him. This summer, he continues to learn and lead faithfully, and serving with his team in unity.

𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙤𝙙 | 𝙃𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝙍𝙖𝙢𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙪𝙥𝙚

Returning for a second summer, Hailey is determined to strengthen the relationships she’s already built with the campers and share the love and wisdom of God through displaying His work in her life. She is amazed to witness the growth of the campers in just one year. Many have shown growing interest in learning about God and even learning to invite Him into their lives. Seeing the growth in the campers, Hailey can see that our God is indeed alive and present!
