In 1972, Father Yeghia Kirijian, from the Patriarchal Order of Bzommar, a priest with an outstanding religious education, having graduated in theology and philosophy from the Grigoriana University in Rome, took charge of the parish of the Armenian Catholic community in Toronto. rd Catholic Church. Currently the Armenian Catholic community is comprised of 250 families. Also sharing a great sense of responsibility, alongside the pastor, are the Parish Council, the Armenian Catholic Union, the ladies' Auxiliary, the Choir, and the St. Gregory the Illuminator Saturday School, which consists of 150 students in kindergarten, elementary, and intermediate classes, and a staff of devoted and capable teachers. The newly built St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Catholic Church had its cornerstone blessing ceremony on Sunday, October 18, 1992, under the auspices of His Excellency Bishop Nerses Setian. A gala fund-raising banquet was held that evening in one of the city's distinguished hotels. Included amongst the attendees were pastors and representatives of sister denominations. On this occasion Father Kirijian, in his spiritually inspired speech emphasized: 'Blessed are those who are church builders. After many years of patient, intense, and hard work, the moment is here to see the incarnation of the dream of our lives. Today we erect an Ararat-like dome towards Heaven, a place of prayer, the Church of God, and the home of Armenians, thus giving a testimony of our Christian faith and a legacy of Armenian vows to God and our nation'.

The Return of the Twelve.
The apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught. He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” People were coming and going in great numbers, and they had no opportunity even to eat. So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place. People saw them leaving and many came to know about it. They hastened there on foot from all the towns and arrived at the place before them.

The Feeding of the Five Thousand.
When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. By now it was already late and his disciples approached him and said, “This is a deserted place and it is already very late. Dismiss them so that they can go to the surrounding farms and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” He said to them in reply, “Give them some food yourselves.” But they said to him, “Are we to buy two hundred days’ wages worth of food and give it to them to eat?” He asked them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they had found out they said, “Five loaves and two fish.” So he gave orders to have them sit down in groups on the green grass. The people took their places in rows by hundreds and by fifties. Then, taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to [his] disciples to set before the people; he also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied. And they picked up twelve wicker baskets full of fragments and what was left of the fish. Those who ate [of the loaves] were five thousand men.

Make Space for Peace.

Reflect.
Our world is full of noise. It’s often rare to find space for peace, and making time to sit and be still can seem countercultural to what we are told to do daily. It is in the moments when we allow ourselves to be still that we can encounter a peace that is life-giving.

Pray.
God of peace, may you help us create spaces where we can be still—
spaces where we can catch our breath,
spaces where we can reconnect.
In a world full of noise, may you draw our hearts closer to your peace,
and remind us that we, too, can live lives marked by peace.
May we become bearers and makers of peace.
Amen.

Act.
Take 10 minutes every day this week to create a space where you can be still. Whether that is in your car, your room, or on a walk—take 10 minutes to simply be and ask for one thing: peace.

The Blessing of Time.

Reflect.
Time can be our adversary or ally. But what’s comforting is that it always moves forward. Let this prayer be a reminder to appreciate the little moments that make up the day.

Pray.
Dear God,
My heart is heavy
at the passing of time,
but I take refuge
in the certainty
that you await me
at my journey’s end.
Give me the peace of mind
to recognize and appreciate
the passage of time—
never wasting it.
Every moment, I know,
is a gift from you.
Amen.

Act.
Fit silent prayer into every hour of the day today. If only for 30 seconds, close your eyes and quiet your heart in thanks to God for the gift of the present moment.

Nothing Can Separate Us.

Reflect.
Today, reflect on the incredible power of the words from Romans 8:38–39: “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Pray.
In this moment right now,
I take a deep breath, lifted gently into your love.
Floating in the fullness of your love.
The forever of your love.
Yes, when I can trust you will always love me
no matter what—it fills my heart and lifts it.
Everything feels lighter.

Act.
Look up into the sky today and see how, in the heavens, there are no separations. Let yourself breathe into this place of trust in God’s love and its overarching fullness.

On that day, as evening drew on, he said to them, “Let us cross to the other side.” Leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm.
