Blessed Liturgical New Year (Indiction)

"At that time, Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and he went to the synagogue, as his custom was, on the sabbath day. And he stood up to read; and there was given to him the book of the prophet Isaiah. He opened the book and found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” And all spoke well of him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth." Lk. 4:16 – 22

We've begun our 5 week series on the Orthodox understanding of Marriage and Family Life. Every Wednesday at 6pm.

Our parish catechesis will take a deep dive into the Orthodox sacramental understanding of marriage and family life. Over five weeks, we will explore the theological, practical, and relational dimensions of marriage and family life, seeking to understand more deeply the grace God gives to husband and wife and the vocation of the Christian family.


These discussions are especially intended for those who are approaching the sacrament of marriage, but they are open to everyone who wishes to better understand this grace-filled mystery and the role that marriage and family life play in sustaining the life of our parishes.

People everywhere, today let us sing to Christ God a song of David, who said, “The virgins who follow after her shall be brought before the King; they shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing.”

For she who sprang from David’s seed, and through whom we were deified, is gloriously and ineffably transported to heaven in the hands of her Son and Lord.

Extolling her as the Mother of God, we sing aloud and say to her, “Save us, who confess you to be Theotokos, save us from all adversity, and from peril rescue our souls.”
