500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines - Toronto

A celebration in Toronto, Ontario of the 500th year Anniversary of the Arrival of Christianity in the Our celebration is also a mission.

We are missionaries of faith in our adopted country and we have become a valuable contributor to the growth of the Church in the Archdiocese of Toronto. The zeal and passion by which we practice our faith manifest itself in our prayerful devotion - filling up the pews, integrating ourselves into parish life, and in the joyful, dedicated service we give to the Church.

Cardinal Collins, the Archbishop of Toronto, a Volunteer Organizing Committee was formed and currently spearheaded by Rev. Lorenzo Salandanan, Pastor of Our Lady of Assumption Parish, the seat of the Filipino mission in the diocese. The committee, with the help of lay leaders from the Filipino community, will undertake the task of lining up events to make the celebration even more faith-filled and meaningful.

This special magazine honors our Filipino faith values and features several interesting articles written by clergy, religious men and women, and faith leaders of our Filipino community. This magazine, together with the events we have done to celebrate.

The words and photos will remind you of how Filipinos are making a difference by being ambassadors of our faith wherever they may be. Truly, we are gifted to give!

DAILY PRAYER TO SANTO NIÑO

O Señor Sto. Niño, who shed Your blessings on whoever invokes Your name, look kindly on us who kneel humbly before Your holy Image, and hear our prayers. We commend to Your mercy the many poor and needy people who trust in Your Divine Heart. Lay Your all-powerful hand upon them and help them in their needs.

Lay Your hand upon the sick, to cure them and sanctify their suffering; upon those in distress, to console them; upon sinners, to draw them into the light of your divine grace; upon all those who, stricken with grief and suffering, turn trustingly to You for loving help.

Lay Your hand also upon all of us and give us Your blessing. O little King, grant the treasures of Your divine mercy to all the world, and keep us now and always in the grace of your love! Amen..

O Señor Sto. Niño, have mercy on us!
