11/07/2025

On November 8, the Holy Orthodox Church solemnly commemorates the radiant memory of the Holy Archangel Michael and the Holy Archangel Gabriel, together with all the Heavenly Bodiless Powers.
Let us place our hope and trust in the right hand of Almighty God, Who protects and strengthens us.
May the Holy Archangel Michael repel every evil and every hostile force directed against us!
O Holy Archangel of God Michael, deliver us from all evil and deceit, and grant our souls and hearts tranquility, peace, and love.
Let us entrust ourselves to him, that through his intercession, Christ and the Most Pure Mother of God may cover us with Their boundless love and mercy.
Amen!

Have mercy on us, O Lord!

ORTHODOX! DO NOT BE SILENT! DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SPEAK THE TRUTH!
St. Paisios of Mount Athos

We must boldly confess our faith, because if we remain silent, we will bear responsibility. In these difficult years, each of us must do what is possible. And the impossible must be left to the will of God.
… Today they are trying to destroy the faith, and in order to collapse the building of faith, they slowly remove it stone by stone. But everyone is responsible for this destruction: not only those who destroy, but also we who see how the faith is being destroyed and do not make efforts to strengthen it.
The storm will intensify further; it will cast all the garbage onto the shore, all that is unnecessary, and then the situation will become clear. Some will receive pure reward, and others will pay off their debts. Now there are many who strive to destroy everything: family, youth, Church.

Now there is war—a spiritual war. We must be on the front line. So many Marxists, so many Freemasons, so many Satanists and all kinds of others!
So many possessed, anarchists, deluded… I see what awaits us, and that is why I am in pain. There is bitterness in my mouth from human suffering… The spirit of lukewarmness prevails; there is no courage! We have finally become corrupted! How can God still tolerate us? Today's generation is a generation of indifference. Not warriors. Most are fit only for parade.
Atheists and slanderers have the right and speak from the tribune. And the Church is silent and does not excommunicate these blasphemers.
… From falsely understood kindness, they say: “Do not rebuke the heretics for being deluded, so that we may show our love for them.” … If I avoid concern so as not to disturb my carnal peace, then I am indifferent to the holy!
Spiritual meekness is one thing, and meekness due to indifference is quite another. Some say: “I am a Christian, and therefore I must be joyful and calm.” But these are not Christians. This is indifference, this is worldly joy. He in whom these worldly principles are present is not a spiritual person.
The spiritual person is entirely pain. That is, he suffers for what is happening, he suffers for the people. It is precisely for this pain that he is rewarded with Divine consolation.

And the impossible must be left to the will of God... Today they are trying to destroy the faith, and in order to collapse the building of faith, they slowly remove stone by stone. But everyone is responsible for this destruction: not only those who destroy, but also we who see how the faith is being destroyed and do not make efforts to strengthen it. Subsequently, these corrupters will deliberately create even greater difficulties for us, they will become embittered against the Church and monasticism. The current situation can only be faced spiritually, not secularly.
The storm will intensify further, it will throw all the garbage onto the shore, all that is unnecessary, and then the situation will become clear. And some will receive pure reward, and others will pay off their debts. Now there are many who strive to destroy everything: family, youth, Church. Now caring for people is confession, because the state is fighting against God's law. The laws it adopts are directed against God's law.
But we are responsible to prevent the enemies of the Church from ruining everything. Even though I heard priests say: "Don't do this, it's not your job!" If through prayer they reach such a state that they care about nothing, then I would kiss their feet. But no, they are indifferent because they want to be good to everyone and live long and happily.
Indifference is unacceptable even for the secular, and even more so for the clergy. An honest, spiritual person must not do anything with indifference. "Cursed are you who do the work of the Lord negligently," says the prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah 48:10)... Now there is a war, a spiritual war. We must be on the front line. So many Marxists, so many Freemasons, so many Satanists and all kinds of others!
How many possessed, anarchists, deluded... I see what awaits us and that is why I am in pain. There is bitterness in my mouth from human suffering... The spirit of lukewarmness prevails, there is no courage! We have finally become corrupted! How can God still tolerate us? Today's generation is a generation of indifference. Not warriors. Most are only fit for parade.
Atheists and slanderers have the right to appear on television. And the Church is silent and does not excommunicate these blasphemers. But such people should be excommunicated. Is it a pity to be excommunicated? Let us not wait for someone else to pull the snake out of the hole, so that we remain alone. They are silent out of indifference. The bad thing is that even people who had something within them began to cool and say: "How can I change the situation?" We must confess our faith with boldness, because if we remain silent, we will be held responsible.
In these difficult years, each of us must do what we can. And what is impossible must be left to the will of God. Thus our conscience will be at peace. If Christians do not become confessors and do not oppose evil, then the destroyers will become even more brazen. But today's Christians are not fighters.
If the Church is silent so as not to enter into conflict with the state, if the metropolitans are silent, if the monks are silent, then who will speak? The careless clergy lull the people, leave them as they are, so that they are not disturbed. "Look," they say, "under no circumstances say that there will be war or the Second Coming, and therefore we must prepare for death.
So that people are not disturbed in any case!" And others, out of falsely understood kindness, say: "Do not rebuke the heretics for being deluded, to show our love for them." Today people are dealing with water. The leaven is not the same. If I avoid concerns so as not to disturb my carnal peace, then I am indifferent to the holy!
One thing is spiritual meekness, and quite another is meekness due to indifference. Some say: "I am a Christian and therefore I must be joyful and calm." But these are not Christians. This is indifference, this is worldly joy. He in whom these worldly principles are present is not a spiritual person.
The spiritual person is entirely pain. That is, he is pained by what is happening, he is pained for the people. It is precisely for this pain that he is rewarded with divine consolation.

St. Great Martyr Zlata of Moglen

St. Zlata of Moglen, a chosen vessel of grace, lived during the second half of the 18th century. She was born into a poor but devout Bulgarian family in the village of Slatino, in the Diocese of Moglen. From an early age, she shone with remarkable physical beauty and even greater purity of soul. Humble, chaste, and God-fearing, she remained steadfast in her faith and love for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Because of her extraordinary beauty, she was abducted by a young Muslim who sought to compel her to renounce Christ and accept his faith, promising marriage. The holy maiden did not yield, even when her own relatives urged her to consent. Firm as a diamond, she chose to suffer for Christ rather than deny Him.
After enduring prolonged and cruel tortures, the unbelievers hanged her and cut her body into pieces. Thus, having passed through the fire of suffering, St. Zlata gave her holy soul into the hands of God on October 18, 1795, and shone forth among the choir of holy martyrs.

Troparion
Thy lamb, O Jesus, Zlata, cries out with a loud voice:
Thee, my Bridegroom, I love; and seeking Thee, I suffer, and with Thee I am crucified,
and with Thy baptism I am buried, and I suffer for Thy sake, that I may live with Thee.
But as an unblemished sacrifice, receive me with love, offered for Thee: through her prayers, O Merciful One, save our souls.

Pokrov - Protection of the Mother of God

In most Slavic languages, the word “pokrov” means both “covering” and “protection.” The feast celebrated by the Church on October 1st originated in the 10th century to honor the appearance of the Mother of God in Constantinople. During a night vigil at the Church of Blachernae, near the city gates, several people saw the Virgin Mary accompanied by St. John the Baptist, St. John the Theologian, and other saints. She walked to the center of the church, knelt down, and remained in prayer for a long time, her face bathed in tears. Then she removed her veil (pokrov) and spread it over the people as a sign of protection. At that time, the city’s inhabitants were threatened by a barbarian invasion; after the apparition, the danger passed, and the city was spared from bloodshed and suffering.
Troparion
On this day we, the Orthodox people, joyously keep festival,
illumined by your coming, O Mother of God;
and, beholding your most pure image, we cry out with compunction:
"Cover us with your Protecting Veil and deliver us from all evil,
entreating your Son, Christ our God, to save our souls.

Along with the great feast of the Pokrov of the Mother of God, the memory of the Bulgarian Orthodox saint Ioan Kukuzel—called the “Angel-voiced”—is honored. He was a reformer of Byzantine musical notation, the creator of the so-called papadic (spacious) singing, and included tunes from Bulgarian folk songs in his works in the 14th century. One of his best-known works is dedicated to his mother and is called “Polyeleos of the Bulgarian Woman.”

Prayer to St. John Cucuzel:
O Venerable Father of God, John Cucuzel! Change us, who have recourse to your prayerful intercession, before Christ God, that He may preserve us from temptations, sicknesses, and sorrows, and grant us humility, love, and meekness. Pray with thy favorable prayers also to the Blessed Virgin Mary to cover us with her honorable omophorion, and so to deliver us from all visible and invisible enemies of our salvation. Preserve our Church from heresies and schisms, our country from internecine strife, our people from faithlessness and vice. Enlighten our darkened mind and make us think more of the heavenly and less of the earthly, that we may become heirs of the Kingdom of God, where together with you we may glorify God, wonderful in His saints, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Today we celebrate the memory of one of the most beloved saints of the 20th century, St. Silouan the Athonite

We assume that those whom God chooses as witnesses of love are extremely rare, because this witness is inevitably tied to complete self-sacrifice.
It occurs to us that in the person of Elder Silouan, God's providence offers the world a new example and a new testimony to the boundlessness of God's love, so that people frozen in despair may gain hope—and through him, Silouan, as the Apostle Paul says:
“But for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all his longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting” (1 Tim. 1:16).
For the elder, Christ’s commandment was not an ethical norm. He did not reduce Christianity to the level of moral teaching, as do those representatives of culture and humanism who lack true religious experience and ultimately conclude that “they” do not need religion, seeing in it only a “restraining principle” for the ignorant.
The elder, like the Apostle Peter, had received Christ’s word as “words of eternal life” (John 6:68), as spirit and life, just as the Lord Himself says: “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63).

The Holy Martyrs Saint Sophia and her Daughters Faith, Hope and Love

The holy martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia suffered in Rome during the reign of Emperor Hadrian in the year 137. Sophia, a noble Christian widow, named her three daughters after the core Christian virtues - Faith, Hope, and Love. Raised in the spirit of piety and devotion to Christ, they openly professed their faith.
When the emperor learned of them, he summoned the girls and tried to persuade them — with promises of honors and privileges - to offer a sacrifice to the pagan goddess Artemis. However, the girls remained steadfast in their faith. In the presence of their mother, they were subjected one by one to cruel tortures and ultimately beheaded.
As they walked toward their death, the sisters encouraged one another, while their mother urged them to remain firm and not fear the suffering. Faith was 12 years old, Hope was 10, and Love was just 9.
Sophia buried the bodies of her daughters, stayed by their graves in prayer, and died of grief on the third day.
By their strong faith, hope for salvation and love for God, Vera, Nadezhda, Lyubov and their mother set us an example of a truly Christian life. Let us turn to them with prayers so that the Lord will strengthen us and help us acquire these virtues.

Kontakion
The holy branches of noble Sophia, Faith, Hope, and Love,
confounded Greek sophistry through Grace.
They struggled and won the victory
and have been granted an incorruptible crown by Christ the Master of all.

Blessed feast day!

Elevation of the Holy and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord

On this great feast, the Church commemorates three sacred events: the miraculous appearance of the Lord’s Cross to Saint Emperor Constantine the Great, the finding of the Holy Cross on Golgotha by Saint Helena, the return of the Life-Giving Cross from Persian captivity.
In 312 AD, before a decisive battle, Constantine saw a radiant cross in the sky with the inscription: “By this you shall conquer.” Christ appeared to him in a dream and commanded him to place the cross on his banner and shields. The victory over Maxentius affirmed Constantine as a defender of the Christian faith.
In 326 AD, Saint Helena, mother of Constantine, discovered the Lord’s Cross in Jerusalem after the destruction of a pagan temple built over Golgotha. Three crosses were found, along with the inscription mentioned in the Gospel, preserved in a wondrous way.
In 614 AD, the Persian king Khosrow took the Cross into captivity. After Emperor Heraclius defeated him, the Cross was returned to Jerusalem. Humbly, barefoot and bareheaded, Heraclius carried the Lord’s Cross into the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The Holy Cross is a sign of victory over sin and death. Let us bow before it with reverence and ask the Lord for strength, peace, and salvation.

Troparion
Save Thy people, O Lord, and bless Thy heritage,
giving to our pious people victory over their enemies
and preserving Thy community by Thy Cross.

09/08/2025

The Nativity of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever Virgin Mary is celebrated by the Church on September 8th, having been chosen before the ages by Divine Providence to bring about the Mystery of the Incarnation of the Word of God. She is revealed as the Mother of the Savior of the World, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
This event has brought to earth the grace of the Kingdom of God, a Kingdom of Truth, piety, virtue and everlasting life. The Theotokos is for all of us a merciful Intercessor and Mother, to Whom we have recourse with filial devotion.
Тhe blessed couple - Joachim and Anna - appeared as the fertile soil on which such a wondrous offshoot could sprout - the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Three days' journey from Jerusalem was the small town of Nazareth. There lived the righteous Joachim and Anna, whom the holy Church calls "God-fearers". Joachim came from the house of David, and Saint Anna from the house of Aaron. They were very generous, charitable. They spent only a third of their income on themselves. The other third they sacrificed for the temple, and the last third they gave to the poor. Daily sorrow darkened the lives of these good people: they had no children. This was considered a great misfortune among the Israelites, for childless parents were deprived of the hope of having the expected Messiah as their offspring. Jehoiakim went into the wilderness and spent 40 days there in prayer and strict fasting. He prayed earnestly that God would have mercy on him, that He would do a miracle - that he too would become a father, as Abraham once became a father in his old age. At the age of three, little Mary, the future most holy Mother of the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, was taken to the temple in Jerusalem. Thus her parents fulfilled their promise: they gave their only offspring into the service of God.

Troparion
Your Nativity, O Virgin, has proclaimed joy to the whole universe!
The Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God
has shone from You, O Theotokos!
By annulling the curse,
He bestowed a blessing.
By destroying death, He has granted us eternal Life.

O Most Holy Lady, divinely chosen Mother of Christ our Savior, sought from God through sacred prayers, consecrated to Him and beloved by Him! Who shall not bless Thee, or who shall not hymn Thy glorious Nativity? For Thy birth became the beginning of salvation for mankind, and we, who sit in the darkness of transgressions, behold Thee as the dwelling-place of the Unapproachable Light.
No tongue, however eloquent, can worthily extol Thee, for Thou hast been exalted above the Seraphim, O All-Pure One. Yet accept this humble praise from Thy unworthy servants, and do not reject our supplications. We confess Thy majesty, fall down before Thee in compunction, and as a loving and merciful Mother, we boldly entreat Thee: pray to Thy Son and our God to grant us, who have greatly sinned, true repentance and a pious life, that we may do all that is pleasing to God and beneficial to our souls; that we may abhor all evil, being strengthened by divine grace in our good intentions.
And Thou, our unfailing Hope in the hour of death, grant us a Christian end, a safe passage through the dread aerial toll-houses, and the inheritance of the eternal and ineffable blessings of the Heavenly Kingdom, that with all the saints we may unceasingly proclaim Thy intercession for us and glorify the one True God, worshipped in the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

September 1

Troparion
You were a pillar of patient endurance, having imitated the forefathers,
O Venerable One: Job in suffering, and Joseph in temptations.
You lived like the bodiless ones while yet in the flesh, O Simeon, our Father.
Beseech Christ God that our souls may be saved.

Kontakion
Seeking the things of the Highest,
and having made your pillar a fiery chariot,
you were joined to the heights.
Therefore, you have become a companion to the angels, O Venerable One,
and with them you are praying incessantly to Christ God for us all.
