*OMER MEDITATION**
*Day 18:*
*Endurance in Compassion**
*Luke 10:30, 33-34 NIV*
In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.
*Colossians 3:12-13 NIV*
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another.
As we get tired and fatigued, we’re no longer quite so helpful to the world – or to ourselves.
When bridges or planes or structures show fatigue, from stress, from age, from over-use, blessing turns to danger.
Compassion fatigue is no less real. Our Compassion is human: finite, fickle, fluctuating.
Like a rechargeable battery, it drains a little over time, a lot during heavy use.
It is only through endurance, compassion can be renewed.
We all have experienced situations that left us battered, bruised and in some cases near dead spiritually. God found us and nursed us back to spiritual health.
When the table turns, can we assume the role of the Samaritan?
There are souls who have been wounded on the battlefield of life, needing to be nursed back to spiritual health. As co-labourers with Christ can we be good Samaritans who demonstrate endurance in compassion?
Most people are capable of showing compassion once in a while, however, being consistent is necessary for kingdom building.
*Fact check:*
God's endurance in compassion is the reason why we are not all consumed, after all, we are all repeat offenders before God.
Effective compassion must be unwavering inspite of our circumstances.
*Ask yourself:*
Is my compassion enduring and consistent? Is it reliable?
Does it prevail among other forces in my life? Do I have the capacity to be compassionate even when I'm busy with other activities?
Do I show Compassion only when it's comfortable for me? Am I ready to stand up and fight for another?
*Prayer For the day:*
May it be Your will, Lord our God and God of our fathers, that as I obediently count the Omer today the blemish that I have caused in my *ENDURANCE IN COMPASSION* be rectified and may I be purified and sanctified with supernal holiness.
