Our hearts are heavy with the news from B.C., where nine people were shot and killed at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, along with many who were injured. In the wake of such evil, we are even more aware that our God declares that He is “near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

We join with believers across Canada in beyond in lifting our hearts and voices in prayer for the families and community of Tumbler Ridge as they walk through this time of mourning. As the Body of Christ, we lift up our fellow members of Christ’s Body in Tumbler Ridge, and pray that the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, would comfort and strengthen His people so that they could bring that same strength and comfort to their community.

As Jesus said, “blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted”, for those that hunger and thirst for justice and righteousness in our land, He promises, “they shall be filled.”  To our brothers and sisters in Tumbler Ridge, our love and prayers are with you.  May you be reminded today and every day that follows of these words from the book of Lamentations,

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.  His mercies never come to an end.  They are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness.”
