And in the prophet Elisha’s time there were many l***rs in Israel, but none of these was cured, except the Syrian, Naaman.’
After driving on the amazingly orderly roads of Melbourne, driving on chaotic Indian roads is an experience!! 😁 if there is a tiny bit of space between two cars, someone will try to push their car into that space. The 2 lane roads suddenly turn into 6 lane highways in one direction as everyone pushes and hustles for every inch of space. But the roads have lanes clearly marked out, they have pedestrian crossings marked out, the signals work perfectly - and yet everyone feels the need to push and fight for the tiniest of available space in the fear that they will get left behind!
Basically they don't trust the process enough to believe that following those lanes will get all of us from point A to point B. They feel the need to go by their own process.
Believing in the process is so essential.
The first reading and the Gospel mentions the healing of the army commander Namaan the l***r. When he goes to Prophet Elisha he finds it difficult to understand or believe in the process. He had certain expectations of how a healing should take place and found it disturbing that Elisha's approach didn't fulfill those expectations. But the moment he was convinced and humbled himself to go along with and trust the process, his healing is complete and he is made well again.
We might have expectations about how the Lord should heal and what would be the right time and right place for the healing (spiritual, emotional, physical, family). And often we stubbornly push for it and are anxious that we might miss out. At times the Lord's process might not be easy to understand or even hard to digest. But when we humble ourselves and learn to go along with that process, the Lord's healing starts setting in.
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways My ways” (Iss 55:8)
