It's Foundation Friday!

At Beaconsfield United Church, a bowl of soup became a way to offer refugees togetherness and a taste of home.

Through monthly Soup Sundays, Nigerian chef Sola prepared traditional soups and stews that brought back memories for participants. And when a refugee couple with no extended family in Canada got married, one of the church’s fellowship lunches became an unexpected wedding celebration, complete with traditional Nigerian food, volunteers, a wedding cake, and a whole church family surrounding them.

Sometimes food is about so much more than food.

Many camping summer staff are still growing into leadership. They are capable and committed, but leadership takes experience, and that experience grows through mentorship and support.

This summer, our gifts through Mission and Service helped fill the gap by funding a senior staff position dedicated to supporting the summer team at Camp Kee-Mo-Kee.

It's Foundation Friday!

The arts can create powerful opportunities to explore faith, history, difficult questions, and our connections with one another.

College Street United Church in Toronto brought Crucified Woman, a new play by Rev. Jeffrey Dale, to the Toronto Fringe Festival. Inspired by the sculpture at Emmanuel College, the play weaves together its history with the story of Canadian author Margaret Laurence, exploring faith, artistic censorship, and freedom of expression.

It's Mission and Service Monday! Here's your Mission and Service story leading into Sunday, August 30!

Good nutrition helps students concentrate, engage in their studies, and make the most of the opportunities that are presented to them.

The volunteers at Brock University's Ecumenical Chaplaincy cook meals in their own kitchens, package them in take-away containers, and replenish the freezer throughout the year.

As students start returning to campus, learn how your gifts to Mission and Service help to ensure students have access to nutritious meals and a caring community throughout the academic year.

For people living with dementia, opportunities to socialize can be limited. Memory loss, changes in independence, and the challenges of everyday life can cause people's social circles and worlds to become smaller.

Cole Harbour Woodside United Church in Cole Harbour, NS, has created a welcoming place where people living with dementia, and their care partners, can connect, socialize, and enjoy time together.

In Guatemala, Maya and Xinka Indigenous communities continue to rebuild after the genocide of the 1980s, while facing ongoing violence and repression. Breaking the Silence works alongside Indigenous partners to build relationships rooted in justice, solidarity, and mutual learning.

Through bursaries, Breaking the Silence helps remove financial barriers so more people can participate in human rights delegations and learn alongside communities in Guatemala.
