1 We believe that governments were instituted of God for the benefit of man; and that he holds men accountable for their acts in relation to them, both in making laws and administering them, for the good and safety of society.

2 We believe that no government can exist in peace, except such laws are framed and held inviolate as will secure to each individual the free exercise of conscience, the right and control of property, and the protection of life.

A very timely verses from Doctrine & Covenants in
which it entails so much faith from above.
As foreign workers in a foreign land, we all have faith that God has provided a way for us to stay and to live in which country we are in. And that we all have purpose and we must abide the laws given therein.

As the scripture says in 2 Nephi 2:20-24

20 And inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall prosper, and shall be led to a land of promise; yea, even a land which I have prepared for you; yea, a land which is choice above all other lands.

21 And inasmuch as thy brethren shall rebel against thee, they shall be cut off from the presence of the Lord.

22 And inasmuch as thou shalt keep my commandments, thou shalt be made a ruler and a teacher over thy brethren.

23 For behold, in that day that they shall rebel against me, I will curse them even with a sore curse, and they shall have no power over thy seed except they shall rebel against me also.

24 And if it so be that they rebel against me, they shall be a scourge unto thy seed, to stir them up in the ways of remembrance.

Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.

And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them.
-Mosiah 4:9:10

A wonderful reminders to all of us. May we continue to keep our faith and keep His commandments.
Stay blessed and safe.

The small growing LDS Thetford Mines Group
were grateful to be visited by our District President, Pres. Vasquez and his Family as well as our Branch Elders Quorum President; Pres. Poulin. . The fast and testimony Sunday were even more a delight due to their presence.

After the services, they were having a group counsel meeting, wherein; each of the member contributed some ideas on how to help others, creating activities and so forth.

It was more evident that this group created and each member was not here by accident instead it had a reason. Everything has a reason and purpose; to find it out each must ask and pray their purpose of being in this place.

Preparing the minds of the people to be faithful unto the Lord their God, is one of that reasons.

And the Lord promise His people “…so long as there were any who should keep the commandments of God, for the promise of the Lord was, if they should keep his commandments they should prosper in the land.” (Alma 48:25)

President Dallin H. Oaks was announced today as the 18th President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The announcement was made during a live broadcast from Salt Lake City, Utah. President Oaks was sustained and set apart today, October 14, 2025.

In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the prophet is chosen through a divinely inspired process. When the prophet passes away, the First Presidency is dissolved, and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, led by the longest-serving Apostle, assumes leadership, confirming the new Prophet through revelation and priesthood authority.

President Oaks, 93, succeeds President Russell M. Nelson, who passed away September 27, 2025.

The new leader of a global faith of more than 17 million members has called President Henry B. Eyring, 92, and President D. Todd Christofferson, 80 to serve with him as first and second counselors in the First Presidency, the Church’s highest governing body.

President Oaks also announced that President Jeffrey R. Holland, 84, will be the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/president-oaks-new-first-presidency

We mourn the passing of our beloved prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Russell M. Nelson. His life of devoted service, compassion, and prophetic vision has inspired millions around the world.

We are grateful for his strong testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and his inspired leadership in these latter days.

“Whatever questions or problems you have, the answer is always found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Learn more about His Atonement, His love, His mercy, His doctrine, and His restored gospel of healing and progression. Turn to Him! Follow Him!”

—President Russell M. Nelson, 1924–2025

It is wonderful to see the Saints gather together over delicious food after the Sunday Service.

Potluck Sunday!

But we did not forget the lessons we learned today from the ZIONs Camp.

Because of the failure to reestablish the Saints on their lands in Jackson County, Zion’s Camp was considered by some an unsuccessful and unprofitable endeavor. A brother in Kirtland—one who lacked the faith to volunteer to go with the camp—met Brigham Young on his return from Missouri and asked, “‘Well, what did you gain on this useless journey to Missouri with Joseph Smith?’ ‘All we went for,’ promptly replied Brigham Young. ‘I would not exchange the experience I gained in that expedition for all the wealth of Geauga County,’” the county in which Kirtland was then located.1

I invite you to seriously think about Brigham Young’s answer: “All we went for.” What are the key learnings we can glean from an undertaking that did not accomplish its stated purpose but nonetheless provided for those early Saints, and can afford us, the blessings of a lifetime?

I believe at least two overarching lessons are to be found in Brother Brigham’s answer to that taunting question: (1) the lesson of testing, sifting, and preparing, and (2) the lesson of observing, learning from, and following the Brethren. I emphasize that these lessons are as important, if not more important, for us to learn and apply today as they were just over 180 years ago for the volunteers in Zion’s Camp. - David A. Bednar
