Rural Life Sunday is always an incredible Sunday of giving thanks specifically for our rural area, farmers, and fruits of farmers labour. I thought it might be nice to see this years images as well as get to see some images from other Rural Life Sundays o er the years!

A Minister was walking down the street when he came upon a group of about a dozen boys, all of them between 10 and 12 years of age.

The group had surrounded a dog. Concerned lest the boys were hurting the dog, he went over and asked "What are you doing with that dog?"

One of the boys replied, "This dog is just an old neighborhood stray. We all want him, but only one of us can take him home. So we've decided that whichever one of us can tell the biggest lie will get to keep the dog."

Of course, the reverend was taken aback. "You boys shouldn't be having a contest telling lies!" he exclaimed. He then launched into a ten minute sermon against lying, beginning, "Don't you boys know it's a sin to lie," and ending with, "Why, when I was your age, I never told a lie."
There was dead silence for about a minute. Just as the reverend was beginning to think he'd gotten through to them, the smallest boy gave a deep sigh and said, "All right, give him the dog."
That story makes us smile.
Tomorrow, a story that will make us think.
We have two stories, really, truth be told - about telling the truth.
What starts as a sombre tale will come to make us appreciate God's truth for us and about us so it is seen through us.
Kids, you will be telling a story! We need your ideas!

There's an old joke that "preaching is the art of speaking in someone else's sleep."
There are plenty of jokes and cartoons about church being boring, people snoring in the pews, that church is a dead place. well, not the early church. Not the church in Acts. Tomorrow we see a church most definitely alive - awake, active, engaged, involved and inspiring. And that story has some inspiration for our story as a church - to be and become a CHURCH ALIVE!
Join us for worship - coming together to pray and praise, to be reminded of the truth and grace of God, and the powerful work of the Holy Spirit. And hopefully not to sleep!
Music tomorrow includes "Ten Thousand Reasons" "Rejoice" 'Here I Am, Lord" and "May the Peoples Praise You"
Kids, we have an experiment to do in our time together and more to do in Kid Connection. We'll be singing "This Little Light of Mine"!
