Today, we celebrate the feast of St. Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of lost things and of people who have suffered a loss!

St. Anthony of Padua is one of the most famous disciples of St. Francis of Assisi. He was a famous preacher and worker of miracles in his own day, and throughout the eight centuries since his death he has so generously come to the assistance of the faithful who invoke him, that he is known throughout the world.

Let us pray...
St. Anthony, model of great holiness, help me to live as a worthy son/daughter of God, faithful to the promises of my Baptism. You know how serious are the dangers and difficulties of my life. Grant that I may overcome all temptations to evil and have the courage to witness to my faith.

Obtain for me, from Our Divine Savior, a heart that is capable of loving God above all things, and open my soul to a generous and sincere love of my neighbor.

Help me to be willing to assist and serve anyone who is in need. Encourage me by your holy example, so that I may be most open and receptive to God’s perfect and all powerful love. Amen.

Today we celebrate the feast of St. ! Barnabas is the patron of Cyprus, Antioch, against hailstorms, and he is invoked as a peacemaker.

St Barnabas was a Hebrew from the island of Cyprus. His Hebrew and Aramaic name was Yosip, or Joseph. Apostles saw in this Joseph from Cyprus a distinctive characteristic, one for which they renamed him "Bar-Naba," or Barnabas in English. Bar-Naba is an Aramaic name, the meaning of which is "Son of Prophecy."

He introduced Paul to the other apostles, and with him undertook the first missionary journey, which began in Cyprus. Later, Barnabas returned to Cyprus and evangelized it. According to legend, he was martyred at Salamis in 61 ad.

Today is the feast of St. , apostle!

Chosen by God to join the ranks of the Apostles after Judas’ defection and su***de, Matthias was present in the upper room at Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came down as tongues of fire. He is said to have preached first in Judea. According to collections of the lives of the saints in the early Church, Matthias brought the Gospel to Cappadocia (present day Turkey) and the coasts of the Caspian Sea. Ethiopia also claims his apostolic preaching. Matthias is often pictured with an axe, which suggests that he was beheaded.

Each May 12, on Canada Health Day, we lift up in prayer all doctors, nurses, caregivers, and medical support staff. 🙏

Through their compassion, skill, and dedication, they continue the healing ministry of Christ—bringing comfort, care, and hope to those who are sick and suffering.

We also pray for all who are ill, that they may experience healing, strength, and peace. As Catholics, we cherish the gift of health entrusted to us by God and are called to care for one another with dignity and compassion.

May we be faithful stewards of this gift and true witnesses to Christ’s healing presence in the world.
