π©΅ When the most holy Virgin was born, the whole world was made radiant. π©΅
Today, we celebrate the birth of our Blessed Mother Mary! What we know about Mother Maryβs birth comes from ancient Christian traditions and devotional writings. In them, we learn that St. Joachim and St. Anne were a faithful couple who were childless for many years. They prayed to be blessed with a child, and God gave them a daughter, Mary. This painting, The Nativity of the Virgin by Andrea di Bartolo, beautifully depicts her birth, with St. Anne resting, Mother Mary in a pure white, and St. Joachim in prayer outside of the bedchamber.
Mother Maryβs conception and birth was a gift from God to her parents and to the world. From the first moment of her conception, she was preserved from original sin. She was bestowed this grace in preparation for her vocation as the Mother of our Saviour.
Let us pray in thanksgiving for the gift of our Blessed Mother. And let us ask for Her intercession to help us grow ever closer to her Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
